Hi all!!

I'm Thomas from Belgium and would like to introduce to you guys my Capri, as it's nearing it's completion. Only needs to be painted now but I have another project so it'll have to wait a bit. Anyway I've grown to like the matt black colour so not in a hurry.   The final color will be a sort of signal green..

It started life as a 1.6 MKIII that my dad and me bought in 1999, partially disassembled and then just sat there for 16/17 years lol..due to always other project cars and stuff.  Then I said enough is enough and started restauring it but most of the parts were lost or rotten away because of bad storage. So it really is a sort of Frankenstein car with parts from all over. So don't have to worry about pescy things like originality and stuff.

I had first put in a 2.0 injection pinto engine but got tired of that pretty quickly, that's now in an MK1 Escort from a friend. So the previous winter I spent installing a Cosworth BOB engine and ZF axle and ran it on a BOA ecu (thanks Paul) for a while but this summer I got a Megasquirt-type ECU and had it mapped properly recently.

I will make a spec list of all the things changed on the car, been wanting to do a summary somewhere for some while. It's also good for future reference ;)

Engine:

- Ford Scorpio MKII BOB Cosworth, very clean and with just 100.000km
- standard Pinto subframe with 2.3 engine mounts w custom rubbers, engine sits 3mm above subframe now
- Efignition standalone ECU with all new custom wiring loom and plugs.
- Launch control with 1 meter flames for those that drive too close or just to scare pedestrians and cyclo-terrorists
- no power steering
- aluminum radiator 70mm with electric fan (gonna upgrade to a more powerfull fan soon)

Gearbox:

- 2.5TD MT75 diesel gearbox with long 5th
- V6 bellhousing
- 2.8i flywheel
- LUK clutch
- custom gearbox mount
- all new bearings and fully checked and assembled by a professional transmission company

prop shaft:

- Escort MKII 1600 sport shaft with integrated slide-piece
- MT75 front end welded on with the rubber donut
- custom mounted

Rear axle:

- MKI 2.6 50" rear axle
- ZF 4-plate hardcore motorsport differential
- 3.75 MKIII 1.6 crownwheel and pinion
- MKIII stabilizer supports welded on
- Blasted and powdercoated
- Disc conversion
- all new bearings, diff was fully rebuilt with plates of a Porsche of some kind and the axle was then put together by the same company that did the gearbox.

brakes:

- Ford Scorpio Cosworth MKI calipers all-round, rebuilt
- Ford Focus ST170 front discs 300mm
- hubs machined
- custom caliper adapters
- Ford Scorpio MKII rear discs 256mm
- stainless lines made to order
- Ford *** handbrake cable (don't remember what it was from), extra bracket made to fit
- standard pads but going to Hawk or Ferodo DS2500 when they eventually wear out
- Landrover master cilinder
- brake servo from Ebay.com, don't know the make but it had the right pcd's for the bracket and BMC
- custom servo brackets to dodge the engine covers

suspension:

- Burton springs on original dampers up front
- Hi-jackers on the back
- 2.8i single leaf springs
- full black polyurethane bushing set

Wheels:

- Image magnesium 7.5x16 fronts ET unsure
- Image magnesium 8,5x16 rears ET also unsure but it's low

Interior

- Ford sport steering wheel
- sport seats on Capri rails
- Black dash and door cards from an MKII
- black leather roof lining
- black carpet
- "Capri" floormats
- V6 dials with wideband gauge built-in, water/oil temp gauges soon to follow
- USB radio

Other modification:

- custom bumpers, much smaller than stock
- MKII grill with the Cosworth emblem inbedded
- window louvres all-round
- battery is in the boot
- ...

that's all I remember by heart, will add if I think of something
