New software for the forum and a fresh new look.

Should be a lot more user friendly on mobile devices now
TapaTalk will be active again once the plugin is updated by them

I like the new look, here's hoping it stirs up a bit more interest on the site.:2tu:

Yeah, its quite a nice lay out now (although I liked the previous version   )
I think forums in general have dwindled due to poxy face ache and twitter.
Never been on either, but hear they are not a good resource of info

I know .

It's not very busy anymore, but I will keep it running.
There is just too much good info on here that's worth saving

It's a shame really the forums are going this way, there's an awful lot of good info on here that you just can't find anywhere else.
I've never joined or been interested in faceache or any other social media. But what I have found is, every single person that has tried to show me something on faceache ends up the same, they just can't find it again and give up. There is just so much crap, adds and spam I couldn't be bothered. :thd:

It doesn't matter how this site looks like and it did look good and only got better :2tu: .

If i look at other Ford sites and even the pro touring site they have the same issues with less and less active users.

The biggest problem we face the last few years is that more and more people need to spend more and more of there income towards to normal living cost that's gets higher and higher and this also means there is less money for fun projects in our case cars. This is i think the main reason why you don't see less end less car builds or abandoned projects that end up for sale.

This site has a other problem. We are more geared to a specific type of engine = the Cosworth v6. The reason: they offer good performance for less cost and they where easy to swap with just older v6 parts and gearboxes. But that was 20 years ago.

There weren't many produced in the first place and after 30 years these engines are rare now, finding a decent Cosworth v6 is looking for a needle in a haystack and parts are rare and expensive so less and less people used them. I have bin warning for this scenario for 10 years now.

Now what?????

In my eyes and thoughts stepping up to a duratec v6 or a v8 (if you want to keep it all Ford) or even a other brand of engine would be a logical step.

And now the problem starts for most people. Using these kind of engines for a swap require more fabricated parts and in most cases a aftermarket ECU to get it running.

I already mentioned that for most people money is tight and a even more limiting factor is that most people aren't engineers or mechanical skilled so that they can fabricate there on parts or have the tooling for it. So these people need to relay on the aftermarket scene. For a American car like most popular cars there is enough aftermarket parts available to do a modern engine swap but this comes at a price. But what's there for older European cars? The aftermarket scene is way smaller then the US aftermarket scene and that's raising the prices even more.

4 years ago i started the 20M hardtop coupe project to show others how to do a V6 Duratec swap with a jaguar S type as a donor car to keep the money spending low. And i went overboard with it  only to show how its done and to prove to you that you can swap everything from a modern car into a older car. Moneywise i only spent 2k on it doing this swap. However it took me 4 years to finish it due a house fire, work ect.

I could have done the project much simpler and for less money by only using the Duratec engine, using a adaptor plate for the gearbox, some engine and gearbox mounts, aftermarket ECU and a custom prop shaft. Depending on the engine you have or want to use you can get it done under 2k.

I was planning to do a project topic about how to make simple parts like the engine and gearbox mounts, aftermarket ECU, a adaptor plate and a custom prop shaft. ect to do these kinds of engine swaps. However i also have to spend my money wise at the moment. But if some has a Jag v6 or v8 laying around (doesn't need to be a runner but must be complet) in my aria and is willing to donated it so i can start with this topic just PM me.

Or/However maybe someone else can show there duratec swaps in more detail. Showing people they can do a modern engine swap with correct info about how to do it or how to make there own parts cheap can spark the interest again of doing these swaps.
