Well, i was thinking about running the sensors through an CMOS bufferchip (HEF4049 or equivalent chip, just a few penny) to boost the signal and then split it into both the ECU and the ABS computer.

Those chips can run on 15 Volts and have a very high input resistance(so they don`t load the sensors) and give a nice steady output.

This "could" work fine

Yeah glad to see your addressing the intake filters, couldn't be in a worst spot at the moment.

Is that them the little eBay filters I see on the turbo oil feeds.

If so change them as they clog up too easy & starve the turbo's :(

"yessss" is exactly how it felt to drive it again mate, I can't tell you I was like a kid in a sweet shop !! lol

It's only baby steps atm, but at least it's in the right direction now. It wouldn't have got this far without your help mate. ;)

I got the turbo filters off Torques, but I  have just looked inside one.



It's not really the same there is quite a large filter surface area compared to the flat one you had. Do you think it will be ok ? The feed is straight off the filter arm on the filtered side, the oil hasn't been back into the block and has just been filtered.



If you think they still aren't up to it, if can you remember where your larger ones are from that would be dead handy?

Yes , i am coming to FordFair this year(think i will even try my trusty Mondeo on the track this time..)
I don`t have skype but i do have msn.

Ok, got some spare time tonight.
So,i simulated the schematic i was thinking about.

And, it actually works.
It`s a very simple box, it has just 1 chip and 4 resistors.
It does work from 1Hz till 100KHz, and accepts an inputsignal between 1 and 50 Volts AC

Don`t think the ABS sensors generate that high voltage, but better be safe than sorry ;)
Should cost under 10 quid to build(including a little plastic box to mount it in)

Important: mount the box as close as possible to the ABS ecu.
(to keep interference to a minimum, use shielded wire)

This is the schematic [attachment=1]

And this is the PCB layout [attachment=2] and [attachment=3]

Feel free to use it, but it`s for FordPower members only :police:

I saw your 24v on your thread and you are using studs :P will it be a worth while upgrade (peace of mind) for me, after seeing the gasket fail like that. Also is it poss to change from a bolt to a stud kit only changing one at a time ?

Your a star  :angel: mate, that will open up all sorts of other features too  ;D traction control, launch control in gear boost and flat shift. That's excellent timing too, I can get cracking on that while the car is away having the tanks and stuff made up. I am only on skype it's free even on a moblie if you are on wifi or free data or I will look into msn. Ps Ollie has had a new actuator on the focus it's way better  :mellow:

Well, the date is not set yet, but probably will be somewhere in September.
Once i know the date i will let everyone know.
(@ least you don`t have to worry about a place to sleep..  ;D)

p.s. about the box, just split the signal from the sensors @ the ABS computer and then feed it to the box
(just in case the ABS computer sets a little voltage on the sensors)
The box just makes it a nice 12V pulse signal.

If your ecu needs a lower voltage, then let me know(i can add a voltage regulator to lower the output signal)

It is possible to change bolt by bolt 8 times out of ten & get away with it.

But there is a chance it will fail so I don't recommended it now your up & running.
I am sure Mike would say it's not worth the risk also.

You have to drain the coolant & blow air through the block so the bolt holes don't fill up with water.

The 24V heads are far more rigid than 12v ones so the head lift is less of an issue.

I think you will be fine mate, it's torque (peak cylinder pressures) you need to watch.

Your be around 500lbs for 500hp so I wouldn't push much past that if you get the option.

You still have the option of 12.9 head bolts too but ARP studs are even better.

Little update, the car is now having a short holiday with spec r  ;)



Pete liked the bay and has some ideas he would like to inc heat sheilds on the header tank and breather.



Turbo hangars and pas tank and screen washer tank and oil separator and strut brace.



The car will be going back later for his top feed cooler with Garrett core and the air filters to be sorted under the inner wings.

Hi mate yes nearly sorted i've altered it, just getting it weld at mo, there not alot inside it which has made it easy to alter. had my little snap on camara up inside it , just bought 16mm silicon oil hose off net and a little filter that will fit the 25mm pipe off my 2nd catch tank ,so hopefully the car will  be back together by this time next week , brake are as good as done , gone for  scorpio cal & ebc grooved & dimpple disc with ebc yellow stuff all round  ! just had 5.5mm spacer made to off set cal from hub, so looking forward to see if thats made much improvement  ;) .

Hi Dave i no you mean Ades car but i'm looking forward to getting mine back on R/R to see what its making now boost and clutch is sorted will be interesting to see !!! , well Ades i recon high 400'sbhp with 550 tq,  thats a really nice car he built there all credit to the feller ,

LOL me too, boost is addictive  :mellow:  Well I hope to get it back from spec-r before Santa Pod next Sunday. I have spoken to Power Engineering in Uxbridge, If all is well then it will go in the following week  :o . It has only been to 3200rpm and maybe 2 or 3 psi and 40 to 50% throttle so I am nervous to see what happens.
When I got to Wiltshire the header tank wasn't hot so not to sure if the cooling system is circulating through the turbos very well (engine runs at 88 on the motorway on the laptop), or because the temporary tank only has one return on the top and the swirl pot and the turbos are sharing a t then one into the tank? I really need a boost figure to tell them to go upto safely, then maybe push it higher later on in the year. I have really enjoyed driving it  :P . What do you think?

Hi Ade yes thats all i would like to no what power it is producing as i'm very confindent the map is ok , i am going to take some pic's of brakes and spacer needed and put it up on site , took the last bits down for alloy welding 2day, should get it back monday ;D still waiting for silicon hose's from the internet hopefully they will arrive at my works tueday , then i can plumb in the breather system ,will be good to get yours mapped up to make sure all is how it should be ,i would think 1bar would be a safe boost to take it to ?? should think your could handle twice that PSI , it  will be a anxious day for you mate when they start pushing the rpm up great to watch tho , hope they get your car done on time after mucking you about !!!!!!!

88c is pretty much spot on, don't worry too much about the cooling system yet, when it's mapped any problems will show up straight away.
The water cooling has little effect on the turbo's when they are running it's when you switch off & the turbo core temps actually increase that water cooling actually starts to cool the turbo's down compared to non water cooled turbo.

You can keep pushing boost until HP stops increasing or starts to go down.
That will be the limit of the turbo's.
Once you hit that stage just back off 5psi or so overwise the turbo's won't last.

Should be around 22-25psi which will get you to 500bhp+

yes Dave would be good but there is no room for it on drivers side  :( this will be nice for now only driven it once with the new clutch and it really does go well maybe later on will change the turbo and lower the compresion , but you have to stop some where with these mods !!!

Yeah Ade anything from 80 to 95 is pretty normal.

If you go above 100 you need to worry & also the coolant cap will let coolant escape around that temp.
The pressure increases as the temp rises.

Good luck on the dyno, you have to trust who ever is mapping it.
That's what your paying for.

They will push on till they think the engine has reached it's limit @ the current spec.

You will get varying opions as that is tuning mate lol!
