Hi guys ive just been pointed over to FordPower to get some help,

Ive got a Xr4i converted to a 3dr sitting and ive just bought a Scorpio Cosworth for the conversion. The Granny is away just now getting the loom modified to make it go in the Sierra as I know the BOB is a ballache compared to the BOA. What I want to know is how much of the Granny do I need and is it a pretty straight forward conversion. I think im right in saying the engine mounts in the Sierra will be fine for the BOB as its already V6?

Any help is appreciated or a link to a good build thread on one of these would be great?

If you have a v6 in the sierra, the engine mounts are a straigh swap.

So the engine will slot into the place of the cologne engine is there much fabrication needed to hook the 24v up to the existing Cologne setup? Ive heard the d.pipes are longer this being a bit of an issue with cars that are lowered. I know I need the box and flywheel out the 4i for the 24v but other than that I dont know much more about the conversion at all.

If you use the xr4 gearbox, you can use the flywheel and clutch of the 2.8. You also need the engine mounths of the 2.8.

You need to modify the downpipes to make them fit the bob and there will be other modifications, like the fuel lines and radiator hoses.

The car is a fully working 2.8 xr4i just now so its all looking good, small mods like hoses and fuel lines are not a problem, was more concerned about fabrication work.

Thanks mate!

Don't forget the spigot bearing.

Run in ......

Will a cosworth spigot bearing fit Ade

You will need either the boa or a dohc Powersteering pump pulley. The bob one is smaller to run the pump at a higher pressure. No problem if you don't have pas

Dave

Yes a YB spigot will fit (21 x 15mm)

Excellent guys, thanks for all the help so far!

Also if you want to keep the alloy bob sump. The drivers side needs the webs grinding down to allow the clutch cable to fit right. It's best to fit the engine and box together out of the car so you can see what needs altering

Big Hyndy

Does anyone know if the 2.8 cologne power steering pump pulley is ok to use on the BOB engine for the conversion? Or does it have to be a BOA or twin cam?

Well ya learn something every day......................

So that's why both the BOB pumps I've tried on the Puma (4X4 Sierra Rack) whine like a mother then ;)
Don't suppose you know what length belt to use ?  (Everything up here in the NW Highlands has to be posted) LOL

Cheers Dave
It's nice to be important but
It's more important to be nice

Dave I should be going to get a twin cam pulley tomo so once its on i will measure up for you mate.

Belt is the same length. Just changed the pulley on mine, after it knackered the seals on my new rack  :'(
