Where can you get an input shaft modded in london/south east?

A fella wants to buy my old gearbox but wants it modded to go on a 4 cylinder (its a V6 one) so the input shaft has to be shortened. Who could i recommend? or send it to for him? Cheers

Just grind the excess off and round the edges off.

IIRC it's 2 cm longer than a 4 cylinder.

where do you grind it back from? the end? simple as that?!

can anyone confirm that i just cut 20mm off the end, smooth the edges, done? the fella wants me to do it for him now AND put in a crate and send it to sri lanka

The nose of a v6 is longer.
The splines where the clutch sits is the same for all engines.

IIRC it's 2 cm. But I never had a 4 cylinder box so I can't confirm this for you.

There is a 1.2 inch difference between the shafts. Also in some cases the splines are futher back than the v6 input shaft, depending on the casing.

You could modify them, but you still have take the gearbox apart. it would be easier to just swap the shaft.

A other downside is that when you shorten the shaft, it will lose its strength because you remove it hardened surface and I have seen these modified ones break.
