Not sure what to make of this... i sold a type nine on ebay. collection only. buyer said he was sending courier wed morning - would i put it on a pallet for him? i agreed ;) got one, cut it down a bit and zip tied the gearbox to it, covered with card and tape and waited for collection. wed morning, found a city link card on the mat saying "not enough room on van yet back 15.00". 15.00 came and an unwritten van arrives. bloke knocks door asks if pallet is the one he's collecting. he also repeats that he had no room earlier. takes pallet, goes.

THEN today buyer asks who collected pallet cos he can't trace it with his courier. i tell him looked like city link but a subcontract owner white man van driver so could be anyone. He then says that I need to trace the gearbox or he will put in for refund!!!!! wtf???

I tell him that HE arranged a collection for wed morning, they came so how would they have known about it if they weren't connected to his arrangements? ...and if he was bogus, WHERE is the "real" driver he booked? nobody has come since and it was booked for wed morning!!

I remind him that the listing was collection only so the arrangements he made are HIS responsibility, not mine.

Whats happened? has he been scammed? is he trying to scam me? should i contact ebay first to say this guy is acting shady? or should i go to the cops? theres a third option... i know where he lives

Looks like he's trying to screw you over. I would contact ebay first and explain what happened. The buyer sent a driver by to pick it up so I would think that's HIS responsibility.

If a carrier from a delivery service picks something up or delivers, you always get a declaration or dispatch note with the tracking number.

If he/she doesn't want to give you a note, decline the shipment or pick up.

You have a city link card, so its easy to prove that you shipped it and that they have it now. After that, its his responsibility.

Most track and trace services take up to 2 days before displaying the package.

If I where him and  its doesn't show up on Mondays, I would contact city link or the carrier he booked.

its kind of making sense what has happened - two odd things coincided in a spectacular twist of fate. The gearbox buyers courier was meant to collect wednesday but didn't show and hasn't since and another buyer sent a courier the thurday without even telling me! when he showed up he seemed to be expecting the pallet (he came along with a trolly) and took it!
So , i heard this cos i got a call from the other buyer saying his turbo hasn't arrived but the tracking info says collected and delivered!!!

All i can assume is that Citylink have the gearbox and are going to return it hopefully. I will call them in the morning to see whats going on. The buyer of the turbo is also going to call them and ask why they collected wrong thing. The gearbox had a massive address label i printed off including the senders address so theres no reason to not return it asap. I was expecting ONE courier for ONE item and ONE showed... the WRONG one!! what are the odds?? Cant believe how much hassle these idiots are causing me! sending couriers that don't show, sending couriers without telling me who DO show and take the wrong thing!!! grrrrr

Now i know why so many ebay sellers refuse to accept any kind of courier collection - in future either i will offer delivery i arrange or collection in person means exactly that, with phot id.

I would contact both buyers and explain what happened.

yep all concerned are up to speed with whats happened. I spoke to city link this morning and they are returning the pallet to me tuesday. I thought what gits... they are bringing it PAST Durham to bring it back to me and won't drop it to the intended address. Its at least partly their fault, along with the buyer who sent them but did not let me know. The rest of the blame goes to the other courier that was meant to pick it up wednesday - if they had, none of this would of happened. Nobody sent me details of couriers or shipping labels so i had no idea the city link guy wasn't meant to take the pallet... i had no other couriers coming that i was aware of so defo NOT my fault.

hope all the bits I've ordered turn up ok

omg  the IDIOT who took the pallet seems to have delivered it to a completely wrong address - not even the one he thought it was meant for. citylink say the pallet was delivered and signed for but scottish buyer of turbo knows nothing about it! he says he's going ask his neighbours next. its units on industrial est. so possible some other idiot just signed and accepted. City link are closed now so I don't know what they have to say but i presume they will find the driver concerned and send him back to fetch it from wherever he delivered it. Can NOT believe how epically city link have fecked this up. If only DX freight had shown up when they were meant to :-

Moral - get paperwork/receipt and check everything whenever anyone sends a courier to collect EVEN if you think you only have one thing getting collected and only one guy turns up and seems to be expecting a pallet!! This has ruined my weekend
