could I please get a few measurements in mm of the clearance you guys get from the bottom of the alloy crossmember  to the road, especially if its lowered but you consider it "sensible lowering"
Thanks in advance
Colin

Which is the alloy crossmember? I can have a look in the morning.

scud

its the big alloy beam that goes across the sump between the front wheels .

im only looking for that measurement if you have an 4wd sierra preferably a v6

Heath Robinson

Xr4x4 with a BOA in it. I meant that I didn't know whether that or the G/B one was ally. I'll put a tape to it now.

Pretty much bang on 120mm in the centre. Not lowered, but a bit of sag maybe - arch to tyre top 30mm one side and 40mm the other. 195/55r15 tyres.
That help?

scud

yep cheers, do you find it too low ? I have 90 mm on mine and only 140mm of travel on the shock when its on the ground. The boa is a fair bit heavier than the 12v.
im in talks with a custom spring place since I cant afford coilovers any time soon the estimated price is £80 per spring for two it gets less if more ppl want it ...

I don't seem to have problems normally. I drive it pretty hard almost all the time, and while the roads round here are pretty bumpy, I've not grounded it out yet.
The middle of the car catches on a mammoth bump going into a specific waitrose carpark, as if to chastise my for shopping there while not driving a Cayenne, but other than that it's been fine so far.
