has anyone had any problems with sierra fuel tank breathers,my car seems to chuck fuel out when i'm sat at idle after a run with a full tank, when you release the filler cap fuel is right up the top and then flows out! had the breather off and that seems ok,maybe i've got to much heat soke on the fuel rail(ally cat rail),thinking of ditching the standard tank and getting a proper one!
the breather valve shuts off when tilted to 45 degrees but flows ok when vertical which mine usually is!

What year is your car ?

Very Late cars have the evaporative emmisions system and if the purge solenoid packs up the tank cant breathe

mines a late one,no purge solonoid, maybe euro cars had it

cheers tony,i'm going wip the tank off again and check it for any rubbish in the re that would block the breather,it's just odd the way the fuel stays in the filler neck even when it's 3/4 full

Strange one!

Only thing I have had similiar is when some arse smashed the lockable cap off & it went down the pipe.
Took ages at the pumps to get the fuel to go in it & it use to spit it out if you went to fast.

Good luck.

I get that sometime on hot days with a full tank.  It is probably a blocked breather.

PS my tank is only a few years old.

well my tank is an aftermarket, took the tank off again and found that the breather tube which is brazed on is far too long.standard ford one is flush with the toop of the tank, but mine is about 30mm into the fuel.........donuts,next fun was trying to get the unwanted pipe off, tried a hacksaw which i quickly gave up on and just bent and snap it off.hoping it will sort my problem out,i'm goign to upgrade the pump to a walbro 255 over the winter and upgrade the tank breather set up and add a swirl pot, just hav'nt got time before i drive to holland on fri morning to re map it
