welder woes

Right, i'm in the process of doing my project estate up and have got a bit of welding to do. My mate has got an old sp (b&q special) and it aint the best.

Im wondering what wlders people use on there cars and how they rate them, i'm looking at getting my own and am wondering what i should be looking at paying.

Just so you know i can weld, do it most days at work wth the works welder, the works welder is a 410v type and no good for me to lend at the weekends  

Any suggestions guys??

P.s it' gotta be 240v and run on feromax gas  as i can get it cheap

Taps is your man there Dan - he could arc weld with a 9v battery and a car aerial. The blokes a welding legend.

snap on cebora, 140amp, small enough to move about and powerfull enough for needs. Got mine second hand for £60

second hand decent make is beter than brand new cheap stuff anyday in my opinion

Buy the best you can afford really but stay away from the little ones which you can get which use either gasless wire or those stupid little gas bottles that cost the earth. Second hand is a good way to go as you can get pro welders for cheap money, avoid Sealey ones as there scrap if they go wrong.

I've got a ESAB Smashweld 180amp, bought it for a tenner as it werent working, cost me £70 to get it repaired. Pulse, spots and contin welds not vfound anything it wont weld as yet.

ive got a sip cosmo at home its fine for car panels and such £135 all in
