Continuing on from the fiesta updates in my escort thread.......Any normal 26yo would be down the pub getting pissed with his mates but ohhhhhhh no not me   For some unknown reason I end up starting a really little job (this all started tonight when I went to swap the normal mirrors for a pair mk3.5 ones   ) and end up doing a full on floorpan swap or in this case stripping the bodykit off knowing full well what it hides underneath.
I swear its got something to do with being hit over the head with a rounders bat at school!

Basically the year before I started the rwd escort I`d started to rebuild it when I had the time.

So far it had.
2.0l cams/TB/mas sensor/130 ecu with powerchip
New AVO coilover
Polybushes throughout
New front Wishbones
New anti-rollbar links
New rear wheel bearings
New front wheel bearings
New inner + outer CV joints
Granada cossie calipers
Braided brake hoses
Replaced rear valance

The bodywork was the only thing starting to let it down, I`d had the filler cap done afew years previous but wasnt done properly and the rust came through again. Theres also afew bubble patches escaping past the bodykit in places and after being side swiped the drivers door had dropped and was rubbing the B-pillar.

So this time, I`m cutting all the major rust out, the small surface patches I`m going to treat with vactan. Good bare metal with etch primer. Anything underside or underneath the bodykit is being waxoiled.

List of jobs I intend to complete:

-Strip n/s bodykit and see how bad it is
-Cut back all the arches by a good inch, weld double skinned rear arches back together (o/s rear cut n welded + front already done)
-Replace o/s sill
-Replace bottom of o/s wing
-Replace fuel filler panel
-Line up drivers door
-Bond the bodykit back on
-All filler n prep work
-Blow over anything that isnt covered by the bodykit or out of sight.

All this plus I want to change the gearbox mounts back to non solid ones before Ford Fair.

Tony next time you see me give me a good slap!

Lifes not ment to be easy mate but come on, give ya self a break.

You got anything on the road at the moment?

Leebay

I`m borrowing my dad`s v8 range rover for the moment. Really like it and its not that bad of fuel (baby 3.5efi) )But its out of tax end of the month and he wont be renewing it as we`ve got loads of uprated bits to put on it. So its shite or bust end of this month if I dont get the work done lol

Sills turned up today so will be busy welding them on later

He'll.. err... be wanting his garage back then mate...

better get a wiggle on then eh!

I`m doing it out on the drive this time, getting an earfull from my mum now

Been making good progress last few days.

So it`ll all going to plan and looking good for next weekend    new waterpump is fine, no leaks (reminds me got to drain it and add some anti-freeze) cam belt is done as well so hopefully she`s all mechanically sounds for while. Least I dont have to worry about it failing the next mot on rust either.

After ford fair I`m taking a break from all my projects. Wont have to worry about this for awhile and I`ll have until next year to get the escort built back up.

IansSaph

haha, on the drive cause.... it won't take too long.... :-) only a few bits....Any worth having never came easy.

Leebay

Well after an eventful week before Ford Fair rushing around trying to get the bodywork done,  didnt look too bad. Were afew bits that were flat and really need cutting back hard and buffing back again but i`m not going to worry abit it as its just a run around.

Thought woohoo, went out early saturday morning with the g/f geting any food/drink n bits. Came home and luckily popped the bonnet to check the water level.......good job I did, engine was just about to boil over due to the heater matrix leaking rather badly.

but they`re well and truly buggered now lol
