Work has been quite quiet the past week so I`ve actually been able to work on my own cars!!!!!!!!!

Engine is all in now...........just need to shorten and weld a flange on a 1800 xr2i downpipe and just mod the coolant pipes

Since the weather has been pants the I decided to unload the fiesta into the garage off the recovery truck rather than struggle outside trying to get it running.

Can just about squeeze a escort and fiesta in there and have enough room to work.

I was going to treat myself to a set of starmags this weekend but some silly idiot who cant read has just pulled out of BIN purchase of a car on ebay so they`ll have to wait until the car is sold......GRR.

Leebay

Santa came early lol and bollox to the taxman he`ll have to wait    I finally got my 7x13 starmags

starmags on a mk2 fiesta?! nowthat will be different, and should look the nuts

looks the bizz there am a big fan of mk1 and mk2 fiestas is there much work and fabrication involved in fitting that engine ie,engine mounts subframes that kinda thing, cheers

Leebay

Theres afew fiesta`s over on xrtwo.com that are running starmags........I`ve always loved the style but never had a Ford that could run 13" wheels (all my others run bigger calipers) so these were the first choice when I picked the car up.

Its a doodle sticking a 1.8 zetec in from a mk5 escort/mk3 fiesta (usual oil pump/sump/flywheel swap on 2.0l though) gearbox bolts on to engine. Its only the mk1`s that are a pain for gearbox cradles/inner wings when converting to zetec/5 speed box.

Only fab work was a bracket for the O/S driveshaft centre bearing, chopped abit off the rear O/S engine mount & welded a new plate on for the 3rd bolt hole ohh and just cut n shut the zetec downpipe to fit the cvh exhaust system.

Got some 175 tyres the other day......just waiting for wheel weights to turn up as I`ve run out.

Well with the snow being quite thick down here and me not being able to get out the last few days I finally found abit of time to get the tyres mounted + balanced up and put on the car.

Still have afew bits to finish off under the car so it wont be off the axle stands until late next week I would imagine. Looking forward to seeing it on the deck

Hopefully they should polish up quite well then I can touch up the black between the spokes.

Matt

Those mags will look well smart polished up, can wait to see the car finished

looking good keep up the good work those starmags are the bizz under that.

Can get cracking with the cam change now I`ve sorted the little hic-cup with the seized injectors and problem with the missing wire in the loom

Was quite suprised when I took the cam cover off........no carbon deposits and the cams are like new. Which suggested it might actually be the very low mileage engine it was advertised to be happy days.

New water pump, cambelt and tensioner then mechanically she`s all good to go.

Leebay

Another little setback    I`m not 100% sure the cams I have are 2.0l or 130 spec ones. They look and measure the same as the ones in there so think I`ve been stitched up on them

Never mind, I`ve put the old ones back in for the time being. Drove the car out of the garage under its own steam for the first time this morning   quick wizz down the private lane and back again. Clutch feels nice and tight, even though it was miss firing alittle (can hear a air leak on manifold somewhere and it struggles to idle) can tell its going to be abit of a handful when its on the road!
