Well I bought the car of my fiancés dad who bought it off someone who had tried to do the 24v conversion and failed at the last part fixed it up and I saw it sit in his workshop for months until  he finally let me have it :)

This is what it looked like then:

I had already decided to race the car before I bought it but it as it already had the engine swap it put it in a higher class so It needed some extra safety features:

That's collecting the cage then fitting:

Fitted some seats and harnesses at the same time:

New bumper headlights and grill:

Had to change the rear boot to before it rusted off the car:

And she got a nice new set of coil overs half way thorough the season as it felt kind of like driving a canal boat:

Then we did the rest of the season which she would have one her class all she had to do was complete the lap on the last race and the alternator let her down:(

After that I made a few purchases the first was a trailer after the nightmare of getting her home with a broken alternator

And the second me and the missis saw online fell in love with and ended up coming home with :) oops

Then the season was ended and the decision was made for her to have a year off and a complete do over and become a proper race car :)

This will carry on there is loads more pics yet but its lunch im hungry and im scared that my pc will have a crazy moment and delete everything I have done so far

Dom

She got new wheels :)

Once the engine was out I could repair all the rusty holes and add all the cage structure to the front and down the windscreen and get the car ready for the body shop :)

new boot and lights :)

Off to the body shop she went :)

Lastly so far m8 that's been helping me in his free time cheesy picture lol :)

That's a nice project there mate.

Apart from some minor rust was the 4i solid as they can rust as hell under all that plastic.

Mik

Nice work there fella, coming along nicely.

This next part some of you may like some of you may not but its my project and when its done I think it will make one awesome track car

So Next Was Engine and this is what I decided on!

First Test fit!

Steering rack you are in my way

So this happened!

And its in obviously not quite that simple mounts made gearbox mount made etc!

Made the front end re fit and mounted radiator also test fit the bumper as its only cheap fibreglass one as its race car doesn't look bad tho if you ask me :)

Sorting out the steering rack as we speak but not done yet whilst im waiting for parts started on inside welding up the seems and any holes

things started small

but quickly ended up much bigger

robrs2

What are you doing for the steering rack. Moving it back or down causes problems unless the hub steering arms are altered.

The steering was actually the most difficult part of the conversion swaped the hubs around and the rack is now behind the subframe :)

robrs2

Been thinking of mounting the rack further back to get the zetec standard sump to fit instead of a rear converted sump.
