Is that a personalised number plate or the original plate that the car first had?

gazfromoldham

that's the original plate for the car.
build no 007

My Minker has had two number plates from what I can make out. One was prob the original from the factory and was something like G967 WER but the one that it has now is horrible H7 TOD I can't stand it. At first I thought oh well I will have to just get use to it but the more I see it the more I dislike it. You will prob think what is the problem its just a number plate? but it drives me mental!

Flog it, and get an age-related plate back from the DVLA. Might even gain you a few notes in the pocket too!

I was going to look into that how do I go about it?

Dave

You can't sell the plate that is on it mate as it is a non transferrable one.

But you can still stick another reg on to it.

I think it was registered from new with that cherished plate, can't remember now.

You can't sell that plate, even though it wasn't the original? How does that work? Or was the other plate added and the silly one the original?
I've got a silly plate on my sierra, so I really hope I can sell it!

Dave

Look at your V5.
In the special notes section it will say it's a non transferable registration if it is.

I am no expert but I think it means it's a plate issued by DVLA to replace a private plate in the past that car had when new. i.e it was never issued a plate by DVLA as normal when new.

Basically they don't want you to reuse plates they have issued to replace plates in the past.

Ball's it says non transferable!!! So I could stick on another plate but then would I have to pay to put H7 TOD on retention? If so I will not bother as I am not paying stupid money for a bit of plastic!

Dave

It means H7 TOD can only be used for that car. Full stop. So can't be sold, transferred or anything. So worthless.

You can still put private plates on the car as normal.

Yer that is poo!!! as I thought. thanks for clarifying this for me as was not entirely sure:thd:
I will have a think about what to do about it before it is back on the road.

Isaac005

Right then it turns out that my options are:

AGE RELATED PLATE: I would have to give up all ownership of the plate H7 TOD and it would be deleted for ever and then replaced with an age related plate.

PERSONALISED NUMBER PLATE: I could put another personal number plate on and I would NOT have to pay to put H7 TOD on retention :2tu:
and if I sold my personal plate on then H7 TOD would be allocated back to the car.

So if I went for an age related number plate does anyone think that it would hurt the resale value of the car if the car could not have the original number plate put back on?
Thanks.
