Here is one of my old cars, a 24V MK3 Granada Scorpio.

History of the car is that it was once owned by a boss of a tuning firm.

Took me a while to figure out all the things they had done, can you guess

Went really well even when it was not going down hill & it would go off the clock on the flat too

So, are you going to let us in on what they did to the car?

That's very impressive!

Filmed on the Isle of Man i presume

Can't really hear any turbo sounds.......did it have a somewhat larger engine capacity

Tony

wouldnt be  a 3.7 would it dave
stall speed seemed higher than standard, could be wrong tho!

No guys it was not the 3.7 as that had a BOB fitted to a 1996 Scorpio Estate.
The 3.7 did not shift the speedo as fast as this car can anyways

Tony it has had transmission work but what, actually it could have a high stall converter but I doubt it?

Look what it has on the matts?

Is it a clue or not?

i guess it does expalain it to some degree.

based on what i now know on auto box's the very first thing you do is to change the stall speed of the converter, this alone gains a huge amout on a 0 to 60 time,,
if its not blown or bored out i have no idea whats been done! even with mappable ecu it wouldnt make that sort of diferance

so where is the car now?

Tone O.K you can't change the actual lock up speed with out messing with the converter but you can get it to lock up at a higher in gear road speed?????

Dave

Chris

I've heard of the Ultimax, (Power Engineering's 3.7L upgrade) but not an Ultima Scorp....

I feel the need - the need for speed.  More info please.

dave yes , you can change the change speeds, the way it locks up and a few other bits in the box (spring changes in the brain etc..)
but
the main part of getting an auto rolling is to be on the power band at stall speed.
this is why autos bog in standard form.

i dont think its possible to get a good 0 to 60 without addressing  the stall speed with an autobox, its the key to performace...

pretty bloody quick whatever is done to it,mind you the suspension could do with a tighten up though,i tell you i would not go for a run it,id be having a panic attack,im not a good passenger!

Look again guys all is not as it seems, have you ever gone 150 mph+?

Think simple

Handles O.K for what it is but does get twitchy once the speedo nears 150 as you can tell from the vid
Dave

Tony

yeah ok so its not even 100mph, bloody wipers dont lift!! its hard to judge the speed on a small laptop screen.

i didnt expect a wind up from you dave!

Tone it still hits about 140 mph but hey looks good don't it on the vid  , I had to back off on the bends too make it look good.

It was owned by a boss of a tuning firm they fitted a 4.27 diff, chiped it & removed the aircon system.

The diff means the speedo is about 20 mph out as the VSS drive has not been changed.

Car is on ebay at the moment.

Just goes to show that you shouldn't trust what you see on the internet

It is still a quick MK3 mind

Dave

Dave

O.K this is for Tony

Tone if you get the gearing right mate your XR4 is gonna fly off the line.
You can see that the diff really makes alot of difference to the Granada, remember yours will be so much lighter.
Stall speed I reckon is maybe just a touch high but a STD converter I think?

Once into 3rd the speedo is way out due to the wrong VSS drive but looks good

Car is now running a STD ECU & seems even better now, very strange? also it runs colder than before.

Video is 3.3mb so Tone can see it on his laptop

Bugger you have found one of my test tracks

Yeah good bit of road that, lots like that around the Evesham area.

Scary on a bike as most are flat out way before the end & there is a few dips in the road that makes it interesting at high speeds.

Where abouts you from then autocad
