i thought you all might be interested in seeing the differences and what we have to go through to have good lights.

xr4man

it's the 2.3 litre, 8v, turbo

i think my mod list didn't make it over here from the old board so here is the list if i can remember right:

block:
bored .20 over
8.5 compression ratio, forged alum. pistons
total seal rings
ballanced and recut crank shaft
ballanced and shot peened piston rods

head:
matched combustion chambers
1.89" intake valves
1.59" exhaust valves
roller rocker arms
anti-pump hydrolic lifters
and a fat cam shaft (can't remember the specs)

tranny:
t-5 conversion
hydrolic clutch conversion
1 piece driveshaft

and a t4/t3 turbo mated to a 40bob exhaust log

3" exhaust should be here this week
as well as an actuall sierra rs wing

xr4man

been a while but i got up to the shop this morning to add a few things to the car.

here's the "angry eye's" carbon fibre grille.

and a couple of the 3 inch exhaust work so far. the muffler should be here wednesday.

well thats going well!
nice job ya doing.......
do ya buy the grills of the shelf over there? we call them bad boy grills here..
interesting tho,, there is an extra bar behind the anti roll bar on your car! is this normal for xr4ti's? or a mod of some type?

the grille isn't exactly an off the shelf job. Tom Rader on merkursport made them up. quite a nice piece.

the extra bar behind the sway bar is stock. from what i've been hearing the xr4ti's have more bracing than the sierras.

Tony

mmm intersting that, i wonder why,i do know a bar is recomended when fitting compresion struts.

i find the antiroll bar is a pain, it needs dropping if ya wish to get the box out

latest update. got some pics of the car with a cossie rs wing and a saab 9000 spoiler fitted. i found that a saab 9000 spoiler looked almost identical to the rs 500 lower wing and looked to be about the right width. it turned out that it was th exact width for the merkur. so saab wing wing was $25, fibreglass replica rs 500 wing $150. looks like an acceptable substitute to me.

also a better shot of the new grille.

All it needs now is a decent Ford badge
Cool stuff m8!

Rob_DOHC

The Euro 4i or 3 door cosworth front bumper would look allot better especially with you very very nice cough expensive grill lol

nice one mate looks v good !

xr4man

i finally dynoed the car.

running the stock 15 psi, stock ecu and no ic yet i made 166 hp and 181 lbs of torque. not too bad so far. now i jsut gotta get the ic piped up and add in the stand alone ecu then i can get really nasty with it.

xr4man

i was a little active this weekend and last.

i plumbed the ic. i know it looks like doo-doo but if i plan on taking the car to pm motorsporst in new york, he's gonna redo the piping anyway, so i didn't want to spend any money on it.

i also deleted the heater valve tree.

and i finally installed the new grille gasket and put the small merkur emblem in place from the back of an early model hatch. it fit almost perfectly and unless you are looking real close it looks just right.

xr4man

i have been debating wether or not to paint it to match the car when it gets painted. but i decided to paint the bumper and cladding to match the grille instaed. it's just tooooo pretty to me to cover up with paint.

xr4man

so here's the latest batch of engine bay pics. i got rid of the hodge podge of saab pipes and couplings and made things look a little nicer and flow a little better.

xr4man

i just spent three very intensive days buffing and waxing and cleaning.

here is the end result.

also this weekend i get it dynoed, i'll let you all know what it's laying down

Owain

it's actually inspired a bit by your car. maybe not the colors but the way you have the blue on top and the grey where the cladding would be on a 3 door. but no arches

and thanks for the compliments. i finally get to drive a xr that looks as nice as it runs.

Christ that looks like a Totally different car m8.

xr4man

drove it to work yesterday and a lady there asked if i bought another one.

Owain

it's a shame we never got that engine option over here, but the car really does look good, well worth the effort you've put in to polishing it up, you could always come over here and wash and polish taps' old 4i fpmsl

i don't know, all the welds might tear up the buffing wheel.

it's funny though, we all want the motors that you all got and you guys want our motors, i guess the grass IS always greener eh?

hmm, now i have to update my little signature picture too.

xr4man

the latest stuff now. i got rid of the three ugly ass autozoo gauges on the left side of the instrument cluster and added a a/f gauge and an oil pressure gauge to the center console. i finished the dash swap and got a good start on the two tone interior. sooner or later i will swap out the carpet too for the black one.

xr4man

ok, so i went to the junkyard saturday and the volvo head i was going to pick up was gone. so, i wasn't about to leave for the second time empty handed, here's what i got.

very nice scorpio front seats.

so i went home and hooked up power and all the motors run smooth and quiet. i then pulled the carpet out of teh black car and transplanted it into the red one and started swapping the black leather rear seats. the two tone interior is almost complete. i still have to hook up power and mount the seats but here's what i have so far.

xr4man

got all teh black leather parts installed. the seat heaters work on the scorpio seats and al the motors work nice and quiet.
