About a year ago I bought a shed of a motor, a 1.6 Transit Van (I needed something cheap & chearful at the time)... someone had painted it purple(!) & added cosworth vents, roof lights and a big bonnet scoop...

).  They still have the one-way valves attached to them, so figuring out which is which isn't gonna be a problem.

I am looking at fuel delivery methods now, and am wondering what kind of electric fuel pump I should use.  The existing pump is the mechanical type bolted to the engine   - no good for this conversion! - I was thinking about a universal unit with a one-way valve either side to make shure the flow was in only one direction.  I used one of these a few years ago on my 480 Turbo Volvo, when the in-tank unit packed up, and it worked well, but I'm not sure about what sort of pressure I'll need for the Cossie system  - Anyone have any ideas?

I'm gonna get the van down the the lock-up and yard tomorrow, and hopefully remove the existing engine & box ready for the 24v lump.. will post some new pictures of the van (under construction) 2morrow.

Somthing like the sierra/capri system would be fine with a decent injection pump

mk2 granny and 2.8 scorpio shape ones, had the pump and stuff hanging under the back too.

Ben

Just been wandering up the garden....

I got an old Cavalier SRi up here..

It had the external pump by the n/s rear wheel.

I say 'had' - cos I just removed it, and it works fine

It half emptied the petrol tank in 'bout 3 seconds!!!!

Here's a picture of my yard when I got back this morning:-

New clutch cable & release bearing from a local supplier completes the picture at the mo.

I've got 2 very willing helpers over the weekend to give me a hand - I hope to get the engine & Box in Saturday or Sunday.

Oh - Just one more thing - this pic's for Spanner:-

My Fergie!!!! (And no Prince Andrew in sight)

Well, it's all change, ain't it?
I go off working in Northern Ireland for a coupla weeks - and everything moves!!!!

Got the engine and gearbox in yesterday.

I needed to fabricate a new gearbox mounting & adapt existing engine mounts. (Both done using 3mm plate) - then with a bit of a helping nudge - in she went!

I'll post some pictures when I figure out how to upload them.....
