Its powered by a Ford based Lotus Twincam the diff is Ford, in a lotus case, the original gearbox is a Rocket box and I'm putting an MT75 in it so it is Ford related!!

Body Lifted[attachmentid=1086]

right, hopefully this has worked out!! I have removed and  refitted the engine, 4 times now, twice with a type 9 and twice with the MT75, The Mt will go but its tight and the remote gear change needs to be mounted on top of the box (bit of cut n shut required!!) The right Mt is on its way, this early one wont do as he starter is on the wrong side (long story!!). I have now stripped of the front suspension and painted the front of the chassis, and will hopefully have most of  it painted and back on tomorrow(sunday 15/10/06).

the Body was lifted off the car on Sunday 24/9/2006, so I dont think ive done too badly!! I want the car on the road, painted and MOT'd for next summer!!

Yes its an Elan +2, 1970 vintage!, The previous owner attacked it with paint stripper (a no no on grp as it damages the gell coat) then left it under a car port for about ten years! Theres a fair amount of UV degredation to deal with (grind down to the glass matt and re resin(gel coat), cracks and splits to deal with, A quality body shop I deal with through work quoted 200+hours to get it ready for colour!!! Thier painter and resident GRP expert has advised me how to do most of the work myself, so this is what I'll be doing! good job I love the smell of  resin and thinners LOL!

Chassis is nearly finished, just waiting for some caliper seals and balljoints, then its body work time!!
