Just posting this for my mate because he isnt a member at the moment, we are taking a cadburys purple van   and a 1800 escort and making 1 vehicle, well we plan to tonight anyway bought a so called non-running escort...but some jump leads on there and fired up 1st time, drove it home no problem, even starts when engines hot so dont know what the problem is meant to be, gonna rip the escort apart tonight, will update with pictures tommorow

Quick update engine came out without to much trouble, must say though i do prefer RWD for removing engines, so much easierand quicker im surprised ford managed to get the engines in there in the 1st place :D still gotta get the gearbox out tommorow....later today, anyone attempted anythin like this before?

me and my mate were gonna do a similar project - got a pair light damaged front escort van and a rear damaged mk5 ghia S escort! in the end we repaired em both! sold the car, ran the van as a diesel for a while then sold it

should be a good project as vans are the way to go

Gearbox came out without any trouble, split a UJ boot, no worries there tho, going to fit 2 litre cams tommorow whilst engine is out, along with the 2.0 throttle body, do the rocker cover gasket and sump gaskets, maybe do the cambelt whilst its out, o and the clutch and maybe paint the cam cover.

cams went in easily enough, tensioning the cambelt seems to be a differnt matter but will get round to that this weekend, the TD engine is coming out of the van this friday and will hopefully have the zetec in by saturday night, will have some pictures by then with a bit of luck

just need to upload the pictures lol, new engine went in yesterday spent the day messing about wqith fuel tanks and other problems got it all sorted engine turns over but no fuel or spark, ECU doesnt even click on...fitted mine off 24v (wasnt sure if this was such a good idea but i was so annoyed i didnt care at the time) and my ecu was clicking on but still not working, figured out why mine might not have run it tho...left a ECU earth pin in the connector back in my loom lol, but we figured it wont work because its a PATS ECU so currently looking for a 2.0 pre PATS zetec ECU :D also using one diesel driveshaft and one petrol driveshaft :D both look the same...what do the big rubber bits on the shafts do? dampers? cheers

Everythin has ground to a halt now seen as the engine wont run properly, doing some strange things, have posted about it in 16v section.

Its all running rather smoothly now, if anyone is ever interested in doing anything like this it really is an easy conversion to do, and it can be done quite cheaply, if we hadnt fitted a new cambelt clutch etc the whole lot would have cost less than 200 quid, all thats really needed is a engine, loom and pre pats ecu, the rest is just handiwork, due to it going from diesel to petrol we had to fit an external fuel pump as well, just ironing out some minor issues now, we believe the lambda sensor to be faulty, and this is causing it to overfuel, also we have the wrong banjo fitting on the fuel pump at the moment, and I had to use some hose pipe for fuel line because i couldnt get any 12mm hose lol, apart from that just gotta tidy the wires up and scrub the tyres in.

EDIT: also wired up the clocks yesterday, very easy job tookless than 30 mins.
