rat rod merkur

i have a '88 merkur xr4ti that has a crap body but runs like a champ. so i intend on making it into a nice rat rod. here's the pics of the car as it sits right now.


















here are the steel rims that will be painted red and mounted with some awsome white wall tires.

it just happens that i was going to sell the car and the only pics i had were ones of any damage i could find on it. it really isn't n that bad a shape.

well i haven't pulled teh plastic cladding off yet, but the rest isn't too bad. the seats are fecked though.

next step is to fix the feul return line so it can run again.

the shifter knob i just bought

got a little more done this weekend. mounted some good used tires on the rims and put them on the car. would have been much easier if i had new tires and nice round rims. also put the front back together and put in a driver side headlight. mounted the shifter knob, however the thread pattern was wrong so it's only on by two threads. i'm gonna have to re-tap it.



this is 3 ounces of weight cuz the wheels are not quite perfect and the tire is worn funny, but they were free.

not really, i think it's a dead project. i had to put a lot on hold to get a new heat/ac system installed in my house. so that killed all my playing with the car money. also i think we're going to pull the motor and build up a monster twin cam turbo motor to put in the red merkur. since i have a two good running motors i'm not as scared to try it now.
