ahhh yeah dont worry them springs, its too low at the back, im gonna bin them anyway and get some more sensible ones in there, they were in it when i got it. I like being able to get a leg on down the lanes so i need some actual suspension rather than have it on the bump stops, it'll probably go back up to standard S height, it may not look as cool but i dont care about that

Yeah will def need changing m8, if someone has driven that with them on then they have been very lucky they aint come out on the road.

popuptoaster

I had a mk3 with really short springs in the back, even with them wired in the nearside one would unseat if i went into a petrol station on an angle, sorry, should have warned you.   There are some more in the boot but when i looked at em i think they are front ones.

What is it they say " One step forward, 2 steps backward"

Loom temp fitted

Plenty of room down the passenger side

Most of it can all be kept to that side and loom can be shortened by at least a half of its current length.

Current Rad will have to go.

Looking now for a 2.3 Cortina or 2.8 Capri rad, outlets will then be on the same side as the Scorp/Sierra.

Engine mounts will have to be re thought. despite using the ones off the V6 that was originally fitted there causing to many problems, engine is sitting 2 low even by fitting !/4inc spacers its still to low, causing the sump to touch the front anti roll bar.

and the drivers side exhaust down pipe flange sitting to close to the steering shaft

On the plus side the gearbox rear mount point lines up fairly good with the floor mounts

Although I will have to make a new gearbox mount plate to fit.

The Cortina prob tube dia is the same size as 2wd Sierra

So the two will be cut to length, sleeved on the inside and then welded together giving it the MT75 end required to match the box.

cool work would love another cortina but good ones cost more than sierras thes days lol

Few more jobs out the way

Front tie bar bushes were fooked for want of a better word

So they have been replaced along with the anti roll bar bushes and lower roll bar link bushes, top link bushes should have been done as well but there was only enough in the kit to do one side so split the kit to get the bottom ones done as there the harder to replace.

one of the front shocks had a stud broken

and as it turned out the other werent even tight and welds had been brocke on stub so just turned and couldnt be undone. Nut was cut off and both studs replaced

Both front brake calipers were siezed so fron brakes were stripped and all freed off

Rear axle top arm and lower arm replaced

Rear brake cylinders were siezed again all stripped and freed of

Air horns not working so normal one fitted, indicators werent working so they have beed sorted out
new wiper blades, new front number plate and plates fitted and here she stands

All ready for MOT on Wednesday

N/S/F brake was binding when I got down there so got to do some more freeing off of the caliper

On the way back from test lost the gear change, the rod block has come off the end of the shaft that goes into the box, god knows how but the pins come out allowing the block to come off, picking a new pin up off barry tomorow.

1st gear burns rubber, 2nd gear burns rubber, goes like stink

the springs on the back are new so may settle a little bit, they are 1" under standard height, the front will probably get the same treatment, i've had enough of cars that are to low, they end up annoying me and i wanna be able to not have to worry about speedbumps and potholes and stuff.

I would lift the front, its to low as it is, had to scrape over two speed bumps going into the test centre

Owain

Nice one taps, good work there as always
