This past weekend was the ford show at carlisle, Pennsylvania and i thought you all might liker to see some of the pictures from the show. i didn't get very far from teh merkur section this year, sothe pictures are all of xr4ti's and scorpio's

enjoy.

here are general pictures of the showfield.

the roush merkur xr4ti

a 2.3 turbo scorpio

a few other scorp's

and the most powerful xr there. smoking the dyno. the slicks started slipping at about 6000rpm when the torque really came on

and this is me getting to drive an actuall 3 door cosworth. there's not many of those over here so it was a real treat for me.

and here's a couple of the nicest xrs at the show.

and the cossie i got to drive

and  the results of a merkur owner showing up in a  scoobie

thats a ,ighty fine collection of xr's and scorpio's there, and a rather nice cossie as well. A lot of em look like they've been kitted up with uk spec parts, do you find it difficault getting uk spec bumpers and wheels? also seems strange how all your xr's have the fuel filler flap, like our mk2 sierras and sapphires, whereas our mk1's had a removable locking cap that was visible.

xr4man

yeah getting the uk stuff is a little difficult, but most of the "cossie" body kits you see there are fibreglass replica parts. only a few of them are genuine cossie parts. for example, my car has a genuine spoiler but will have a fibreglass rs500 front bumper.

i wonder about the fuel filler door, maybe it's some "safety" feature for us americans.

here's the link to the video of phil marshall's merkur smoking the dyno.

this is definitely something to see and hear.

xr4x4 mk1

some XRlent pics ther m8, great to see so many XR's still around in the USA

xr4man

there were about 90 xr's and scorp's there this year. two years ago for the 20th anniversary f teh merkur, there were 236 xr's and scorp's. that was amazing to see that many in one place all at one time.

the convoy that started in california a week before the show stretched for 3 miles that year.

Dave

Some nice cars there.

Do you think they might be interested in shipping over for the U.K Ford fair
Dave

xr4man

of course they are all interested in shipping over for ford fair, but we merkur guys are broke asses and have no money to do something like that. hmm maybe when i hit the lotto i'll bring everyone over.

Sorry if i'm commenting on a rather old thread but the 7 spokes on the green xr4ti must have been hard to come by in the states!?

actually that is a canadian car. i think a bunch of them got together a group buy on those wheels a few years back. also BAT was selling them. so not so hard to get a hold of, but rather expensive.

Im shocked how many Sierras are there, I didnt think they were very big at all out there, mind it is a big place LOL.
Nice photos mate, I want to go next time LOL

xr4man

the xrs have a cult following over here. those of us with them are very very passionate about them. the ford show at carlisle in the spring is also the national merkur meet. so there are alot of them there. but once everyone goes home we are all very sparcley spread out across the country. the closest one to me is an hour drive away.

i'll have new pics from the show this year in june. it's always the first weekend in june.

tiff

nice pics - would love a late XR4Ti!

xr4man

well, the carlisle all ford nationals is this weekend. it's the 20th anniversary for the scorpio here in the US so there will be quite a few really nice ones there. includinga  4.6 liter v-8 powered scorpio. i'll have some good pics for you all next week.

xr4man

i forgot about the pictures. so here they are, a little late but good anyway.
