Had the same thing happen to one of mine on each side. Quick fix dropped a bolt through via a suitably made hole in the footwell which I shall plug with a grommet. Bloody typical probably due to someone doing the ARB bolts up with an air wrench at max torque setting.

i suspect that what happened was that when the car was recovered from the impound, the police wouldn't let erik out wheels on it. (the car had been stolena nd the custom comp mo's were stolen as well) so the tow truck driver hooked up to the tca and drug it through the mud onto the flatbed. i think that's what pulled the bracket forward.

haven't actually done anything lately, but i did finally get a new (from the dealer in germany) speedo cable. i thought you all might be as amused  as i was at just how long it is to get over to my driver side.

i pulled that off my black merkur to cover the engine bay temporarily. once it's ready to be driven, i have a carbon fiber cossie hood to put on it.

xr4man

drove the cossie home for the day this past saturday. it got to spend some time with the xr.

now that i finally got to really drive it, WOW!!!!, it feels so good even with just a stock tune. can't wait to get the rest of the minor stuff sorted so i can drive it when ever i feel like.

some pictures for your enjoyment.

so i put the motor back together tonight. new cam seals, rocker cover seals, timing belt and tensioner. fired it up and everything runs fine. so i did something right. however the return fuel line started puking gas so we shut it down and now i have to get a new line. no big deal though.

and now the pics

rocker cover off

radiator out and pulling pulleys off

everything back together and torquing rocker cover

bird's eye view

and the nice clean rocker cover

i replaced the leaky fuel line which stopped leaking anyway. i also replaced the vacuum lines with some new silicon hose. there's only about 6 lines on the whole engine.
