Certainly is a bloody decent hoist lent to me by some equally nice bloke who looks like he could be your twin brother!

Didn't use any hylomar but I ran a clean oily finger around the flange (oo er missus) and pulled the bolts up evenly so the o ring didn't bind. Hopefully it'll be OK - haven't put any oil or coolant in the engine yet.

Next job is to swap the cams - got Sean's BOB cams arriving in the post tomorrow.....

Si.

BOB cams arrived (nice one Sean!) so that's one more little mod to make. Going to paint the plenum and cam covers whilst they are off and modify the EGR inlet on the plenum to take the brake booster vac fitting from my old 2.9 Cologne.

Going for a RAL5019 shade of blue for my roll cage, so will tie the engine in with this somehow - not sure how yet. Whatever it's going to look the absolute dogs.

Need to patch up the tunnel around the little hole made for the trans case to poke through and sort out the zorst - mid section needs a bracket welded to it I think and got to cut n shut the 24v downpipes to suit the Sierra zorst.

Since doing Silverstone last week I'm more fired up than ever to get the project in a driveable state so I can play hehehehehe. I was hounding 911's in a 130 BHP Lotus Elise - am hoping to get the Sierra equally as quick round the bends with the combination of 4wd and coil overs.

Got my coilovers yesterday from Mark @ Gazzard Engineering. Decent price too, and some nice GAZ decals for my car too. Weather's crap so doesn't look like I'll fit them in the next week or so.
Rollcage has been painted RAL5019 "Capri Blue" and I've got another few boxes of odds and sods - brackets, nuts, bolts, washers etc. for the project. Amazing how many nuts, bolts and washers you get through on a bare-shell project like this!

Made a good few quid selling my old V8 stuff on fleabay which funded the coilovers - still one bugger who owe's me a ton and hasn't paid his ebay invoice in over a week grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

3 door Cossie bodykit is on its way as an Xmas pressie (see even us big kids can get things from Santa that we look forward too - it's not all jumpers made of the wool from round a sheep's ring piece and cordroy slippers). I'm hoping to get lots done over the 2 weeks off at Xmas if the weather holds out.

What was it John Steinbeck wrote about the [best laid plans] of mine & men? Xmas came and went, and I was and still am ill - not ventured outside much so got nothing done on the car. Had planned on writing lots but the cat just crapped in his litter tray and the smell is beyond words. Got to go take cover until the Mrs gets in from work to clean out "her" cat's shite box. LOL.

Is this just a trackday car or you going to do some real racing as it makes a lot of difference

Initially track days but after that was thinking of joining in a series as and when funds allow

Then my advice would be consider what series your most likely to do, get a copy of the regs for that series and do things to there spec's now, just done a golf and its a lot easier to do it from scratch then have to beef up cage/seat mounts that have already been fitted.

Rob - considering this series...

Looks like MSA rules apply - so whatever the MSA Blue Book says is how I'll have to mount my seats...

Si sounding good m8

As for the cluster. You dont have to cut any of the wires leading to the plug. All you need is a small flat screwdriver and you able to open the retainer piece and push out the wires with there spades. Then you can just reposition them in there new pin allocations and close it up afterwards. You'll have 1 spare wire which would have been for the seatbelt warning light an might have to make 1 solder joint for the common(24Volts). Aswell as you know, you'll have to run 1 new wire from the coil or ecu to the rev counter.

I'll attach a spread with the colour codes and change over pin details. Its what I documented when doing mine the other weekend, and it all works. Hope this will be of use and make it abit easier.

The actual Mk 2 plug is different from the Mk 1 physically Zane (by looking at the plug on my Mk 1 XR4i loom and then the socket on my Mk 2 clocks) let alone the wiring config different. Hopefully the spades on the wires will be the same for both shapes of connector (sods law says they aren't LOL). I'm using Mk 2 clocks as I've got those rather nice hybrid ones I made with a Sapph Cossie 170 mph speedo (with 180 MPH stainless steel dial front) with my V6 rev counter all done in stainless with blue backlighting.

How's the beast running now she's got some petrol in the tank?

Soory M8

Didn't read properly, can work out the pin changes for you if you want for the mk2 clocks you have. Still got my old set here.

Tah she's running fine now, will leave it down to fuel.   Call me wanker LOL

She's looking good, but see we haven't convinced you to leave the blue? She's a beaut in the blue.

Wish the paint was just covers, then I'd buy yours off you when you ready LOL.

Busy trying to clean up my engine bay at the mo and the cancer in the inner rear wing, but got the holiday coming up soon so not too much happening. Oh and trying to push the O/T so can get her insured when I get back.

Best of luck

Cheers matey

Nah the blue's gotta go. Tried several colour schemes for graphics and they all look pants in the blue - so white it is. Blank canvas. Was gonna make a touring car replica - did consider black with the Eggenberger TEXACO livery but that's been done before.

If you have both sets of clocks / wiring diag to hand mate that would be handy - all my stuff is at Barry's and my grandads place.

LOL I'd never call you a w*nker reference the fuel (or lack thereof) but Taps probably will

Got my RS500 lower rear spoiler today   all I need now is the lower front splitter to complete the picture.
