hello Si.

what was the outcome off the dyno?
Bit disappointing on the day as it goes. 160HP and 165lb/ft at the wheels. The shape of the curve was really healthy and the car really pulls well but only in 1st and 2nd - above 3rd it was flat. This was put down to several things that came apparent:-

1) EPBT not connected to exhaust manifold to measure back pressure hence engine load
2) Alternator shagged only holding battery at 10v hence weak spark and poor CPS output (stall at idle sometimes)
3) Dead cell on battery
4) transfer box and front diff both low on oil causing excessive heat rejection and huge transmission losses
5) brakes binding a bit (car is a bitch to try and push!)

Gradually rectifying things and making improvements all the time.

hello Si,

160hp / 165lb/ft at the wheels is still not bad, considering the problems you had. my gues is thats still around 200/210 at the flywheel.

True - a 2wd with BOB cams and std injectors made 180 something at the wheels. Madasahatters 4x4 made 170 at the wheels (std cams, Vectra injectors). Think mine will be better next time round but it was a useful exercise to begin with. I've got a leak at the downpipe flange which won't be helping too I guess as the HEGO won't be reporting right. I'll fix that and maybe put in 2 new HEGO's, some new spark plugs, leads, coil pack etc. so I know I have good parts to start with. Not knowing the true condition of the stuff that's on the car there are so many unknowns.
I've asked the family for cash instead of presents at Christmas so I can get all the new parts for the car for more (as Clarkson says it) "Powwweeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr".

Little update...

Been using the car at weekends and when it snowed the other week I used it as a daily driver (well it is 4x4 LOL). Hasn't missed a beat really.

Have re fitted the EGR assembly and connected the EBP sensor up correctly. Taps gave me the vac solenoid for the EGR control the other day so that will go on at the weekend and be wired in to the EEC loom. With the EBP connected properly it's made a huuuuge difference to power delivery - it actually shoves you back in the seat now quite noticeably.

Got new Cossie 4 pots at a good price - if anyone wants to offer me a sensible price for the old ones I'm open to offers (they could use a re-furb but work perfectly well) - also upgrading to ABS master cylinder but without the ABS valve body for more line pressure.

Rear main oil seal is a bit weepy (noticed when on ramps at Taps's) so that needs doing soon. Apart from that it's 500 miles of trouble free track / road mixed driving.
