Some of you will have seen this elsewhere but for those who havent

Brought off Ebay

Didnt look to bad in the pic but after getting it home and seeing the crap welding underneath it was to bad to try to save so stripped every thing I wanted off it for my 4i

Scrapped the rest of the shell and sold off bits I didnt need.

rallyslag

shame it was so rotten

it looked quite nice in the first pic

All going to be fitted on this one

To do
Well first thing will be to take the 4i kit off it and see what horrors await behind them  :bigcry:, rotten wheel archs if needed wont be a problem as they have got to be cut out to take the wheels

Fronts 15x9 and rears 15x10

The rear inner arch will need to be welded  to the outer a lot higher.

Now I was going to drop a V8 into the project converted to 4x4

Until it came to light that with the wheels I'm using cant get the centre viscous with in the specs it need to be, so that little projects now on hold till I have finished this one, then will be back on it to fit into my current XR4i 4x4.

Taps

So that left me looking for a power unit, Tony[Maddoldbugger] has been trying to get me to turn to the Dark Side and won me over in the end

Hence the purchase of this

Fronts stripped out, found some rust but not surprised.

Front bumper mounts and bottom of front wings at the front end worse

Will make up new panels for the bumper mounts and prob have the wings off and fit new and repair the inner wings while there off.

Next on agenda was to strip out from here back

Taps

Right some more pic's

Rusty bits found at the back

All the wheels on

Hello. I used to own this car,and converted it from standard to 250 bhp twin turbo power. The car appeared to be a lot more solid than it is now,but that was 2 years ago!
I sold it to twin turbo from interford, due to a business venture.
The car has definately had the arches/sills done at some point, and looked very tidy with the kit on.
Does anyone know where the twin turbo setup has gone?
I love to see projects like this take shape, but it's kinda sad when it's something you used to own,but thats life!

Hi ya m8, think we spoke on Interford when I first got it off TT, at least it will live on even though different, most would have prob scrapped it due to all the rust.

I think TT sold the turbo lump to Victim [Luke] off the xroc bb but it blew up not long after he fitted it.

Have cut the arch 3 inc's higher

Just got to weld in new.

fatboy billy

QuoteLittle bit m8, not as much as I had wished as spending loads of time at Addenbrookes Hospital, mums been in there since last thursday with heart problems.

Must be in the air, Sue was re-admitted on Tuesday.. Could be in for a couple of weeks or  more..

Makes car work even less viable than usual...

Hope you mum gets better m8..

TT

Yeah, Luke bought the engien.

I took it out for my project car and then shortly after decided to go 24V so sold the lump on to Luke.

I then got a standard 12V 2.9 from a guy who was also selling a 24V engine.

I put the 12V in the 4i with the intention of keeping it clean and running arround in it for a good few months. It was a HOOT! real fun to drive and I thought it was more solid than it is.  Anyway, the day my Son was born ( a week or so after getting it on the road ) the oil light came on and refused to go off bellow 2000RPM..

BUMMA... Nackerd bottom end I thought... My interest droped, a 2.0 XR4x4 came up local cheap.... and that was that...

Taps bought it for £40 less the wheels.... Drove it most of the way home, untill the water pump failed. Must have just been a fault oil sensor.

And the wheels have just gone to a new keeper last week....

I wish I had kept the 4i.. It's not as rusty as the Sapphire was. And the interiro was loverly.!!

TT
