When doing a job like this, i.e. a complete shell rebuild, how much do you think you are strengthening things by just completely welding the panels together versus the spot welds that Ford originally used?

Chris

Well, I spot/plug weld where Ford do Chris and seem weld the rest, I dont like seem welded flanges, i mainly cut out and cut panel to fit in rather then weld metal over, I also use thicker metal then what I'm replacing, so, what I've done should be stronger then what I've replaced

Chris

Thanks for that....   Do you ever make outer panels, or are they easy to get hold of....   I need to redo my rear outer wheel arches on my Estate, and the lower part of the tailgate, but obviously, the panels aren't available, will need to find an real body guy (expensive)

Arches are cheep enough over here, tail gate you'd need to make your own, lot of panels are available for them here.

Chris

Well, thanks again

Good luck with the rebuild...   I will be doing some of that over the next few years, no doubt...    But the cosmetic stuff, I will be leaving to a good bodywork guy.

Chris

What is the purpose of having the 'holes/slots' in those floor panels?

Chris

They are either drain holes for when bodies dipped or crumple zone

Tony

Hole where someone run the loom for the 2.9

front foot well all done

Rear foot well

Chris

What kind of welder are you using?  Gas, MIG, TIG or stick?

BTW, I have found a distributor for Hadrian Panels, over here, and I think even though his prices aren't cheap, $100 for a pair of rear arches.....   By the time I pay my own shipping, I imagine it will be about the same price, but it might be worth verifying that.
