Hi All

Hoping its gonna work this time as 've reduced all the sizes of these pics. The plans are, all the running gear from the xr4x4 built over into the 3 door. All thats busy being done at the mo and well should be back by me in a few weeks

Then as it goes and allowed hopefully get a TT'd 6 cyl in with some good old deep dish wheels and a new colour. Have the interior fully redone (again all dreams at this stage. ) And end product hopefully 1 Kick Ass Ford Sierra which is mine and well make me proud around all of the other Beauties you guys have out there.LOL

Hi All

So here's how my Baby looks going into the new year. Looks worse then she actually is. And my poor old red rocket how she now looks. Quite sad to see the red 5 door go, but her dash and all the essentials will live on in the 3 door.

Cheers M8, hope you weren't getting spares at the same time? LOL.

Should be ready in the next two weeks so yeah getting all excited now. Need to go cause some havoc in it for a change instead of it just sitting there.

LOL I've got all the parts for mine, just a lack of time and health at the moment (lung infection :-( ) to get anything done. Mine's going to be very minimalist on a trim / fittings theme - 2 bucket seats, 2 harnesses and a roll cage about does it. Keeping lardy weight down (am thinking about getting myself castrated to shed a few more pounds in weight     )

Got my Cossie bodykit over Xmas, my coil-overs before Xmas plus shed loads of other ebay goodies so plenty to do once I'm back up and running.

Looks like we're gonna have a pair of tidy 3 door's to play with later this year... what are your plans for the bodywork / trim?

Maddoglips

. Sorry to hear bout the health, hope you get well soon as the progress was looking top.

As for the trim, gonna have it pritty much standard inside with the cossie body kit on.

Once she's back from Barry, the next aim is gonna be the power train. Busy looking into the 3ltre Duratech v6. Looking quickly at it, Its possible but just got see what its gonna hit the pocket compared to the cossie 24v. Will have to work out install costs compared to parts availability, parts cost at the end of the day.

The duratech is gonna need a sump adaptor plate made, engine mounts made and gearbox adaptor plate made. With the right sourcing, could be done for a reasonable cost i think. They just few and far between at the moment. AND its spares will be readily available for a long time.

Where abouts are you? Should be picking her up in the next two weeks so Yippee, if you need a hand willing to give it if close enough.

Duratec would be a nightmare Zane - I recon you'd be looking at a good few thousand quid for all the fabrication and install work. a 2 wheel drive  Duratec is a doddle (but expensive) as the donor parts are needed from a Morgan or a Jaguar S type. Could probably get a 3.0 Duratec from a Jag X Type with the 4x4 auto transmission and transverse mount that on a custom subframe utilising the X Type front end assembly, custom mount the rear diff in the Sierra cradle and have a custom prop made front to back. Again bloody expensive and would probably handle like a Lada Riva.

I'm about 10 mins up the road from Barry to either my house or office in opposite directions so it's handy if I'm stuck for an idea or sump gasket at 6pm on a Saturday LOL.

Hi M8

Thanks, Really good to see that as I need something to cheer me up and that did it!

Dont know when I'll be able to drive here as in totall now I've spent just over 10hrs on the fone trying to get insurance and no luck anywhere.

Hows the health going M8? Hope you better.

Got any further on yours?

Again many thanks, smiling from ear to ear now, might just have a good night.

Cheers Zane

Still coughing up lung butter but I'm back at work now. Haven't seen my car for a while - not done anything on it since late Nov ish. Looking forward to making some progress soon - Barry has offered me some space in his place to work in the dry for a week or so - could make some serious progress then.

Thought you'd like the video clip - Barry was just cleaning up the terminals on your fuel pump which were totally corroded (bloody road salt does that). He put the plug back on and it fired into life. LOL he only ran it for a few seconds so as to not piss his neighbours off - lol downpipes only with no exhaust!!

Zane - uploaded the pics of you and your car to my photobucket account - for some reason when I try and add them as attachments on here I keep getting white-screened.

Link to my photobucket is in the signature below - same as my project folder....

Cheers Owain & Si

Just finished doing a few things on her.

She now has the XR4i clocks and rev counter LOL a good storie there on its own, but all working.

Will start a thread if any 1's interested with a detail of all the wiring changes and additions. Let me know.

Will try and reduce my pic sizes and upload a few tonight if little 1 gives me chance.

Zane

Owain

heard about the clock situation, glad you got it sorted

Gonna be away for 3 weeks so didn't start any thing that would require finishing before. Sure you'll all pick the befores and afters
