This is my story....

I'm from Arkansas, same town where the awful Bill & Hillary Clinton went to college  

Back in 2002 i got my first auto


90 Ford Ranger truck with a cologne 12v 2.9L
over the next couple years i did a few mods
-chip
-induction
-exhaust
-58mm throttle body (factory 52mm)
-LSD 3.55 gears
-rear anti roll bar
-upgraded rear springs
-lowered rear
-upgraded transmission (still junk)
-sachs clutch
-electric fan

that truck couldnt keep a tranny in it to save my life

i next bought a Merkur XR4Ti, competition shell

drove it 3 days before it went down

Then I got on a plane in 2004 and bought a 94 Ranger Splash with a 2.3 turbo (265whp/340ft-lbs) then drove it 13hrs back home!

i kicked a lot of V8 ass in that truck

after 6 months it was broken, over the course of a year i had a fully built engine sitting on the stand

this past summer i sold the engine, it is now in a 3dr Cossie replica, expected to make over 400whp

somewhere in there i spent too much money on this 92 Capri XR2 turbo and then spent too much money fixing it, and then i sold it, lost thousands


2.5 years ago i went and bought a 91 Mustang with a 2.3 turbo,

i got it up to 218whp/294ft-lbs on pump gas
we put 101 octane in and bumped the boost up to 25psi and it kicked ass every weekend

eventually it became undependable and i replaced it

with this:

the truck still sits with no engine and i am contimplating putting another cologne 2.9 in it with a holset strapped on it!


which is what led me here, to learn more about the 2.9s, only a handful of people here have modded these engines
