ShaunPC

Hi everyone, as most of you know I have a passion for all things ford and 2 weeks ago I aquired another vehicle from the ford range to add to my fleet of ford projects so here is a pic of how it was a week before I bought it.

IansSaph

sound, you getting a saph rear beam fitted?
Love P100s, keep us posted!

I'm fitting a Granada cosworth rear beam to it as I have one available, just gotta change to a sierra cwp to keep the front and rear ratios the same.

robrs2

Granada cossie diff will do. its 3.61 and the front should be 3.62. Unless your going for the 3.92 diffs

My Granada diffs are 3.74 mate so they wont be suitable but I have got a mate with a few broken sapphire diffs so robbing the cwps out of them.

Here is a few pictures of the rear end mods for using a cosworth rear beam.

nice one

mate of mine is doing - should've finished it by now but been waiting 8 months for a wiring loom and manifolds.....

ShaunPC

I have been on the lookout for a cheap P100 for a few years and this one came really cheap (mainly due to the fact that it was just a shell with bonnet doors and rear bed) I also got a cosworth loom, adjustable column and ABS system for it.

Thats a nice project mate! Looks good. I've recently got a P100 as a rolling project, i'll be watching your progress with great intrest mate

Do you have a rough estimate of how heavy the back load bed was when you took it off?  I'd also be interested in how heavy the leafs and axles were mate!

Cheers

Cheers mate, I would say the tub weighs about 220kgs but as for the rear axle and springs I havn't got a clue as it came as just the bare shell, doors and bonnet with the tub.

What plans have you got for the P100 then mate?

Bit unsure at the moment to be honest. I bought it with the intention of dropping a 24v, welding the diff up and having it as an unusual Trampdrifter. I've been running round in it with the 1.8TD lump in and quite enjoying the fuel economy and wet weather drifting. Now the cambelts gone and the valves are more bent that Michael Barrymoors porn collection its sitting outside the house looking sorry for itself!

I've got a 2JZGTE with a dead crank that I was going to put into my 3 door, but moneys an issue and i've got to start looking for a project for next year at Uni (motorsport engineering course). I was thinking of using a 200 sx rear beam on the P100 and a homemade fibre glass truck bed, coupled with the engine transplant of either the 24v out the 3 door or 2JZGTE.

As a stop gap, i've either got too buy valves and rebuild the diseasal engine or drop in my spare pinto on carbs.

Other than that a cage will be fabricated and I'm making some compression struts and ajustable TCA's for the front at the moment. Not sure what else, got some 4 stud hubs so i'll prob do that when I fit the sruts and TCA's. Set of coilovers are also on the cards when money improves.

Thanks for the info on the bed weight, makes it seem even more of a good idea to knock a light weight GRP one up now.

Sounds like a good plan so far mate, the 2JZ would always be nice as would the SX rear beam. The 24 valve would be good though especialy if you were to do a low blow turbo conversion running the 2JZ management (2JZ management is very versatile and easy to map too, loads of info on the web about them).

I don't know whether the you know but the P100 is about 200kgs heavier than a sierra so if you could do a GRP. tub it would make a hell of a lot of sense.

For the time being for economy bang a set of valves in and wind up the fuel and boost slightly, it will still do loads more mpg compared to anything petrol.

As for the tcas and compression struts I would be very interested in some if they were available to buy from you.

Compression struts should be ready very soon. I'll give you a shout when the first batch is finished.

Yeah weight is a big consideration with the P100. My tutor suggested a mid mounted engine config for the project, but i'm not convinvced it'd be good for drifting . . .  yet lol

Is your mate going to run it on the BOA loom or try and get the BOB loom to work with the XR4x4 stuf? If he is gona try the latter and succeeds send me a message on here as I can get a complete BOB bug eye scorpio for £100 (minus engine, box and diff as the box died, I have the engine and he is using the diff under a mk4 escort).

tiff

trying to use BOA loom adapted...will keep you posted as to what and when!

just in need of an ECU too now

ShaunPC

Been a bit busy over the last 24 hours so thought I would give you a taste of what's to come.

I reckon it looks pretty sweet so far, what do you guys think?

No worries mate, I did put a thread on here asking about megasquirt suppliers but it dissapeared for some strange reason.

It should be nice once it is finnished but gotta get my ladies XR4x4 rebuilt and then get my escort cabi finnished too so a bit busy at the mo. lol

ShaunPC

Hey all, I aquired a set of brake discs yesterday so thought I would give them a trial fit on the P100.

Ignore the rope on the wheel and tell me what you reckon of the size of them.

The P100 got a facelift today thanks to trevCOSS off passionford so I thought I would add you all a few pics.

ShaunPC

I got a few more parts made up for the P100 conversion recently which have now been put into production by a well known poly bush manufacturer so thought I would share a few pics with you.

Yeah they should be great imo but havn't fitted mine as yet as i'm just getting ready to move house and got tooo much to do.
The engine mounts should be top too but I would of prefered it if instead of sending me the powder coated blue ones he sent me the anodised ones.

ShaunPC

QuoteHad a play with the P100 and fitted the rear axle with the help of my fiance and my step daughter Sarah and a little hinderance from my little pain in the butt A.J.

Here's a pic of my little helper Sarah
