V6 EDC

Ok, just recently i purchased a rolling shell to start my conversion. The car i bought is a 1989 Rs Cosworth rolling shell. Engine, gearbox, prop and diff had all been removed aswell as the leather. This is how it looked when we picked it up....

Next, onto ebay to find a granada 24v and found this J plate saloon with 108k on the clock for £300. Been sitting in a farm for a little while as the previous owner had bought it for the engine to go in his cortina but never happend...

Engine and box are now removed from the granada along with everything else, wiring loom, rear beam, brakes suspension so will be scrapping it in the next few days.

I`ve used 2wd front crossmember with engine mounts with a granada ARB so i can use standard downpipes. Engine is now in the bay but awaiting correct gearbox (got one on the way), and wiring loom is being modified as we speak and will be back soon.

Will update soon with some more pics....

Lots of 24V  saffs on the way. I have found the engine mounts to be a bit weak in the 2wd x-member. Fitted solid mounts on the track car. But fitting the 4x4 x-member on my saff so i hope the shorter length of the 4x4 engine mounts wil be less prone to splitting.

By the way i looked all over for a white saff and could not find one. Ended up with a black one.

Well when they rip themselves out and they will, get yourself some of Chucks mounts Rob.

I make my own m8. Steel ones don't rip

Your confusing me now, youve said track cars solid mounted so is your saff going to be solid mounted as well?

robrs2

No. Not unless they go.

Another Update.

Firstly, i apologise for no photos as i have a new laptop which doesn`t like my camera at the mo, but piccys will follow in the next couple of days.

Right, well the Granada Cos has been fully stripped and scrapped now and my electriction now has the wiring loom. Ive used the Granada front ARB as mentioned, as this gives the clearance for the granada downpipes, and i`ve kept the 2wd 4 pot brakes, steering rack, suspension, etc but i`ve fitted the granada lsd diff as mine was missing.

My mate needed his engine hoist back recently so i had to put the engine in without the gearbox as the box still needed modifying. Thats what we did today, Lennie (Don`t know his username on here) showed me how to convert my V6 4x4 box to 2wd and TBH, wasn`t as hard as i thought it would be. (Cheers for the help m8).

So tommorrow, i can now get the gearbox in with the prop and start on making the exhaust. I`m just waiting to get the wiring loom back, then i can have it running!

Hopefully, now the clocks have gone forward, i should be able to get alot more done .

Photos tommorow...

Just fitted the loom to my saff. As mine was a dohc the main loom to engine loom plugs need to be undone from the engine loom so they can reach the engine bay behind the battery. Yours may be inside the car behind the dash ? anyway i only extended one 12V black wire in the loom and left everything else in this time, EGR etc. Its easy to just hind the extra plugs in the engine bay.

also waiting for the box for mine. Got the same place that did my old one to do this one too. But they have a 2 week wait    Fitting the engine tomorrow
