With the Scorpio requiring an impending £400 bill for the next MOT i decided to take it off the road for a few months to sort it. So I was on the hunt for a toy with a few months ticket to tide me over.

This 2.0GT caught my eye in Kendal.

Fierce bidding got it up to £77 ( 3 months tax and 3 1/2 months MOT ) But a quoted " Coughs and Splutters..

BY GOD!  did it cough and splutter, it struggled to idle, and kept backing off suddenly and repetativly at part throttle. It woudl only pull cleanly at full throttle...

Anyway a bit of fidddeling,

The use of a Gunson FCR ( my god it actualy seemed to work! ) pointed to the MAP sensor having invalid voltage.

So with that replaced ( thanx stixy, dojj and crusty for parts to help solve the issue )

The car now pulls clean and strong, seems good for the 160,000+ Miles on the clock.

It looks a bit better in the pics than it is, the bonnet has lost 99% of it's lacquer, theres a rust bubble on the passenger rear wing and the arch is shot!

On the + side... 4 Nearly new tyres and a very good spare.. The interior is clean, tidy but a little sparse on toys..

So am I happy...

YEAH :D

Not bad for £77, i had one as my first car and they are alright, but hasn't got as many 'extra's as the GLS, whish is surprising considering it's called a GT    good old fords, confusing as ever

Hope it lasts you till the other cars done

I am toying with the idea of putting it through the MOT in November.

Russ says use it as a drift car, was what he did with his old gls and when you get bored sling a YB lump under it an annoy the aRSe owners lol

TwinTurbo

It actualy went through the MOT with just £74 all in including £45 for the test.. Not bad for a £77 smoker!!

turboshed

does the gt stand for giant turbo!
xr4x4 twin dinky turbo, emerald k3 management,302bhp and 400ftlbs@21 psi

TwinTurbo

Any turbo would be a bonus....

Still it's only got to last a little while longer whilst my 24v Mono and Scorpio are put back on the road..

Stageringly, the shed is still going strong.

With total expenditure pegged at £246!!!

She's bee abused carrying garden timber, aggregates and al my spare parts.. But she's still going gr8...

Which considering she was ment to be a 3 month stop gap is amazing!!
