My Fiesta mk4 1.25

Ok, so its still fairly standard I know, but I am slowly getting it to look the way I want it to.

MODS COMPLETED SO FAR:

3" Ashley stainless steel cat back exhaust system
K&N Induction kit
New Head unit and Sub
fit rs2000 15" 5 spoke rims once sprayed white
new 140watt front speakers
De-badged
Removed door mouldings (bump strips)
Fitted new number plates with slogan
Clear side repeaters
Aero style windscreen wipers.
Silver fiesta zetec s dash trim.
Silver fiesta zetec s heater panel trim.
Fitted laguna splitter.
Fitted rear strut brace.

lower 30mm
paint rear drums and front brake callipers - either melina blue - same colour as my body work or amber.

As you said, very stock looking. Get the mechanicals sorted first as planned and then the cosmetics done.
I take it you're still young and need to keep the tiny motor.

Yeah, a mere 20 years old.

The fact I'm doing an apprenticeship obviously means money is tight so having to do it in stages, looking forward to hearing more ideas from other members on here, these places are always good for advice and isnpiration.

And as I'm the only one using it, i.e very rarely take people out in it, just use it for work and going out, I don't need anything with more doors as of yet, just got a nice reliable car, with plenty of options for modification which is what I wanted at the time.

Now have the alloys on, my rs2000 15" 5 spokes.

Just need to find a nice looking set of locking wheel nuts (using the standard wheel nuts at the moment - one in each whee with 3 standard nuts.)

next on the list is the body work - my cars booked in on the 3rd november, to have a rusty panel replaced (drivers side rear arch is rotten) and having the whole car rust proofed underneath, along with the sills and rear arches once the one has being replaced, and the other touched up - Its odd how one is worse than the other!

also having any dents taken out and mere scratches removed etc.

My car has had some body work done recently.

I've had the driver side rear panel replaced due to rust - it had gone too far to repair, the passenger side rear panel luckily wasn't too bad, but I've had it tidied up anyway.

I've also had the two front doors tidied up of dents and scratches.

The car has been totally rust proofed underneath and around the wheel arches and sills.

And my rs2000 rims now have matching white centre caps.

Next up are strut braces, upper, lower and rear.

bloody hell they're white!!!

looking good. i really appreciate owners that undertake the body repairs before spending on modifications, (nowt worse than a rusty car with new sideskirts)

Were you not tempted at late spec bumpers?

I agree with your statement regarding the rust and body repairs - personally I couldn't see the point in modding a car that could potentially fail an MOT or just look plain ugly with nice new alloys and big blobs of rust everywhere - as you said. If somethings worth doing, do it properly etc.

lol Glad you like the alloys - I thought it would be something slightly different - Around my area there are some mark 4 and 5 fiesta's, with black tsw alloys, or the original alloys sprayed black which in my opinion look a bit tacky.

The Escort GTI alloys were also a popular choice when I went to ford fair, (I was close to buying a set of those 15" and having them refurbished and sprayed white, but changed my mind) so these are something which may give a bit of a fresher and different style to my car.

Also like the fact that I've salvaged a set of rs2000 rims, which were in average condition and now they look like new again, after a refurb and re-spray.

To be honest I had thought about fitting the later mk5 fiesta bumpers, but at the end of the day it came down to cost really, (Just finishing an ICT apprenticeship at the moment so I'm having to restrain myself!) I think part of the reason I chose the mk4 fiesta, was because not many people have them modified, or modified tastefully and 'properly' if that makes sense, they are all about making lots of noise and boom boom tunes.

I want mine to look 'factory'ish but also for it to be a bit of a head turner, but for the right reasons.

I know that engine wise its fairly limited unless I stick a mk5 fiesta 1.6 or puma 1.6 / 1.7 puma engine in there, which now that the body work is sealed and has been properly rust proofed all underneath, it may mean I have the car long enough to make it worthwhile doing some kind of engine upgrade.

Just looking forward to finishing my apprenticeship and improving it further, probably more mechanically now, than aesthetically.

Wow, took me a couple of years to realize all that mate. through my apprenticeship i was gluing Mk5 escort bumpers to xr2 kitted mk2 fezzys .... good lad.
I'm partial to a puma engined Mk4, or a zetec-s.

However there is loads more fun in small engined cars than many people give them credit for.

I've also considered adding / fitting a throttle body to the current engine, but the engine which is in now has done over 83k, so again I don't think its worth it for the amount of use it would get.

I don't know how long the 1.25 16v zetec engines last for? I've not seen many over 90k on ebay so going by that I take it they wear out at around 85-95k?

Saying that though, the cost between getting he throttle body and having it fitted against putting a new engine in such as a 1.7 puma, wouldn't be that much i don't think.

Plus I just fancy a bigger engine Would make a nice street sleeper if I do get round to putting a bigger engine in and people think I'm just nipping around in a little old fiesta.

Personally i think messing with the 1.25 is a waste of money.

They are a great little engine lots of fun and revvy, but.... they do throw big ends if the oil is kept up. and finding parts or engines isn't as cheap as you'd like for a little fiesta.

Personally i'd save your money on engine mods and fit the 1.7 later.

Only a small mod, but fitted the silver dash surround from a zetec s and a silver heater control panel, to make it look a bit less bland.

Strut braces next, along with a sun strip ad possibly smaller wipers, off a ka, always thought the front and rear wiper (especially the rear wiper) on the fiesta spoil the look of the car.

oh and I've also got a laguna splitter which I'm getting fitted sometime in the next month

Another small update.

I today fitted my laguna splitter, and the rear strut brace, in the boot.

I have also cut some black racing mesh to size, just need to remove the old black plastic, from the original ford grille, and stick it to the grille surround. Hoping to do that sometime this week.
