I`ve built up a pretty good collection over the years I`ve been driving, seems to get bigger every year   Think my parents and g/f has just given up on me now   Everytime I bring another car back they just shake their head.

This got me into Fords back in 2000 when I passed my test.
Always fancied a mk2 xr2 so this makes a cheap alternative. Whipped the engine out the other evening........got a low mileage 1.8 zetec being delivered next week, full xr2 exhaust system with 3" b/box on order, -30mm springs turned up yesterday also fitted a pair of spare wing-back seats and I`m in the process of converting the fuel tank.

Plans are......bodywork (inc the 1.4 ghia badge   ) to stay as is, get it lowered on some xr2 pepperpots, upgrade to late spec xr2i brakes and bung a 130 1.8 zetec in there have some, then no doubt sell it on

im loving the v6 escort ..  ide love one ...

Janspeedcapri

always liked the mk3 escort to look at - especialy the old carb xr3 with the beefy black rubber arch spats and splitter, they looked the nuts.... get some leebay, they will blend the wheels into the bodywork a bit which is the purpose of them but they also deflect stones from newly done paintwork

I seriously burnt myself out building it..........still not finished but I`m still doing little bits here and there. Everyman and his dog seems to be building a 4x4/rwd mk3/4 escorts these days lol.
I did try to source a pair of spats in half useable condition awhile back but with no success. Those wheels wont be staying on it anyway.......I`ve got a set of 16x7" RS7`s to go on once I`ve got round to refurb`d them and renewing the tyres.

Escort van has priority at the moment as its under going afew changes. Bucket seats are going, along with roof spoiler and front bumper. Got some mint recaro`s and standard front bumper is putting back on. I`ve just finished rewiring the loom to accept a standard 2.0l ecu again then its going to be stickered up for the business.

Finally done abit more to the fleet!

Mk2 ghia - Is under going a brake upgrade. 240mm vented discs, new pads, new hoses and mk5 escort servo upgrade (pics to follow)

Mk3 XR2i - Due for mot/tax next month but I hit two large pot holes the other day so tracking needs re-doing and front wheels balancing I`ve probably buggered the wishbones too. If it need loads of work for the mot looks like the mk2 will be replacing it as my daily drive. Fixed the heated front screen (melted relay!) after years of struggling to demist the screen!

RS2900i - Just stared at it the last 6 months   actually not totally true........did get around to removing the tires and re-newing the valves on the 16" 7 spokes that are going on soon. (pics attached)

Mk4 Van - Still not recieved the 1.3 loom yet I traded for aload of custom stickers. The original 1.6 efi had too many alarms etc bodged onto it.......plus I knew there was a problem with the fan circuit somewhere. Just easier to stick a standard 1.3 carb loom in to do the lights/heater/ignition etc zetec management loom is fitted/routed through the bulkhead ready to connect up. Inner sills/new battery tray are welded up too.

Transit Recovery -  Currently sorned as I need to replace offside front wheel bearing, renew drivers side sill for the mot next month and I`ve got a new driver`s door to spray and put on. Just finished reconditioning a cylinder head to swap over when I renew the head gasket. Light skim, new valves, new stem seals, de-coked & cleaned including a new inlet manifold. You would not believe the amount of soot that I removed from the ports of the head and inlet runners! Must have been seriously strangling the engine, would say the port were nearly 45% full.......new torque sleeve for the diesel pump and she`ll be the fastest N/A Di around I reckon    (pics to follow)

The starmag needed some bead sealer as it kept going down.
I`m going to get some smaller 195/45/16 tyre to put on the escos rims for the time being just to reduce the amount the fronts stick out. I`ll keep my eyes open for a cheap set of 8 spoke 16" alloys of some description.

No rush if being used for storage purposes at the moment

Head and inlet for the transit

Calipers and new discs n pads for mk2

trow the v6 out and use a small block v8 with some turbos and the 4x4. i doubt if anyone is building something like that in a mk 3/4 ;D

and i doubt if anyone with a v6 4x4 mk3/4 can keep up with you...... ;D ;D

edit: sorry for bringing you on bad idea's.

There used to be two brothers with a pair of V8 mk4 escort`s that used to race in the modified class at my local oval years back. Think they were Rover V8`s tho......plenty of full lock balls out driving. Might have a video somewhere.

Sadly dont have the time or budget to start replacing the 24v now.

Nice thought though Paul I like your style  ;D
