I LOVE that car! Totally awesome. Turboshed had been telling me about it, I only found it today, it's a really piece of work, I am very jealous

Cheers  :-[ mate, glad you enjoy, he has told me about yours to   have to meet up sometime at a show or something. I have to agree with the floflex they have some real issues and I am going to replace the lot, probably be the winter now if they last that long  :'(.

What mounts are you using now and how are they holding up to the heat ? My turbos are a bit away but that looks very worrying, the rolling road when it gets mapped may well kill them lol.

Yeah of course mate! Definitely catch up sometime. The rolling road won't melt them, that's just short blasts over and over, not sustained through the gears, it shouldn't get that hot with a good fan.

I've got the vibratechnics engine mounts now, they are spot on, same as what turboshed runs and he's been on the track in them. Only thing he melted was his dipstick!  Those floflex ones are still good for the gearbox I reckon. Just cut the bolt down, perfectly re-usable. or indeed flog them to someone non-turbo!

If you are concerned for the rolling road day, just stick some heat matting under there, will be fine! Good luck  ;D

I will get some vibratechnics Mounts then mate I have noticed today the floflex top mounts have a crack in them, this is getting pretty annoying now f##king  floflex ! Yep his dipstick fire was what made me get mine fire proofed in stainless lol my box mount isn't the same as on a 4x4 so may sell em £1 lol

Next lil update got this last night
Fingers crossed for spec-r this weekend too..........

Hmmm 3.14 interesting.

Vibratechnics mounts are the only ones to fit, never had any trouble with them.

Still no cooler from Spec-R, after being kept waiting all day for him to say no ( and me loosing a days work also )I have decided to get it set up without. Graham has kindly spoken to emerald and booked the 20th of next month (cheers mate). So a few bits to do re road speed etc then D day.

turboshed

it will be ok with the current cooler,a better core will be more efficint yes but only once driven hard for a while, its all about how quick the cooler can get rid off the heat over a loaded period, once the boost is turned up we will see any problems then, should be a good day out for me but I should think a slighlty more concerning day for Ade sat 2ft away from his engine doing 7k full boost runs!
take a spare diff in the boot!!
xr4x4 twin dinky turbo, emerald k3 management,302bhp and 400ftlbs@21 psi

Dave

As Gray says mate don't worry too much about the cooler.

I have done some reserch on cooler design & the overall shape/design of the cooler has a bigger effect than the actual core passage ways unless they are really bad!

Also when it's mapped can you ask for the boost plot to be included on a graph so when I get around to doing a turbo guide I can use it as an example please ;D

Will do mate ;D  im down £400 with spec r atm  I'm still unsure how far to push it, we will see  :- I would rather have 300 brake and fully mapped with 10 psi than a broken engine  :'(

Just let Mr Walker push it to as far as he thinks it will go.

Otherwise you will be wasting your time & money.

On a dyno it is the best place to push an engine & Dave will be able to tell easily when it is getting to that limit!

It will make 400bhp, with some work it should do 450 & if everything is working well it should hit its on paper figure of 500bhp!

There gone & put my foot in it now lol!

Do you have a good picture of the cooler fitted on it?

Dave

Hi ade dave will only map it with in safe limits so should be a good day for you and to get a good map which you can have tweaked if you feel the need to like i did ! think we all no your should be around 400 ish but it the tq which will be the most impresive i think .

And don't forget to shoot some videos Ade!  ;D

Hi Gerry.

I think it is the best way as I'm hoping as he builds up any probs will show up, safely. Then like you say a live map to sort any other bits that need a tweak. The more I drive it the more I love it, the pull is addictive low down and the boost even .5bar is sweet.  I love the K6 it really is a very good bit of kit for the money the more I look in to it the better it gets. 2wd is a bit lively already lol, I'm going to tap into the abs this week see if the ecu can read it, I will let you know what I find.

Not long till Fordfair too mate  hope it's dry.

This weeks update

Well I got the stud kit off Mikey at boost, they Graham did some research an the ARP nuts and washers and even kindly ordered them. (still owe you mate I haven't forgotten)

I stripped it all out ready but then Gray gave me a hand to do the swap. Up till 4.20 am not easy to do in place and then poor Gray had to drive home  :-[

Then in the eves this week. Double checked the timing all lined up

Then put it all back together and ran it up  :P so far so good and took it for a drive and still ok

The floflex front top mounts

I think we need to let people know how bad they really are  :'( I am very dissapointed to say the least.

Got some new ones and fitted them

I now have all the bits for the turbo hangars, rose joints and made some brackets on the turbos and my Dad made up some bosses and so did Gray  ;) hope to do a bit more on them this week.

Cheers Ade

MM i no how good mine feels to drive yours is already stepping out and its not set up with full boost   ;D ;D, i no if mine was 2wd it would be rather tail happy , yer prob best to get it rollered fisrt and you might beable to sit in and learn more about mapping you've done a great job so far ade .
Cheers Gerry

Such a sweet machine...

Bouth tail happy, my my 188.8 horses xr4i atmo stands on very high 14 inch winter wheels, that makes a car tail happy, couldnt even get around roundabouts normal without some sliding, at first i was scared as hell, later i didnt even notice it anymore, only untill my mate in its 106 peug reversed his little car on the roundabout becouse he tought i was making a handbraked slide, witch i didnt, but the road was wet and slippery, and he went a 180 degrees, saw it in my mirror. Just need to get the car running, i almost cried when it didnt start this week, it still hurts a lot to see my first love standing like it is now, got a good mate, the guy is only 16, he cleaned the outside of my car and texted me the picture, didnt now how mutch i liked the car.

Must say, becouse i'm a member of the dutch sierra club,  i met my girl, so its a bit more than a car for me i think.

I like the radtek stuff youve got, personally i cant afford it, got me a fourth hand radiator from jurgen, and a cossie 4x4 intercooler from another mate, and abouth all the other parts ive got cheap from friends ive made, like the pistons from janspeedcapri, the original turbo kit from an other mate, the tt dcu and my main bolts from dave, got a map sensor for free from a mate, that kind of stuff. If i was mentally sane idd sold the whole turbo thing, but it was the last purchase before i got ill, cant take any distance from it, to much emotionally worth i think, just need some bits, like arp bolts for the bigends, oil pump, piston rings and big end bearings to start the building again, and im saving really hard, but hell, i dont have any money, so the few quid i manage to save each month will get me there sometime, gives a really good feeling, when i can buy another part ncwor twice a year!

Mocked up the block last week, heads on, covers on, manifolds on, turbo on, only to find out it wont fit on my engine stand with the crosspipe on it,but hey, i can show a picture to anyone who wants to see it!

Gonna pull out the pressure washer thuesday, got me a few cans of wd40 to get it dry!

A damn, didnt know i liked my car this much!

looking good Ade  ;D

but just one thing....why are the coolant hoses take offs on the wrong side of the rad?  :P
or was that just a yb cossie setup to try in the hole?  ;D

Dave

The cooler looks O.K mate, I could pick fault with it but it's more than good enough for 500bhp.

How have you done the two into one input feed to it?
