Bought off ebay a couple of months ago. It had been stood for a year on a farm.
I won it with the opening bid of 2 grand.
I pinched the recovery truck from work to go and fetch it.

Hmmmm I'm sure I recognise that car............

What kit is fitted to it?

Ah, just spotted your other post, 225 kit ;)

dangerousbryan

There were quite s few bits missing when I bought it so there was a bit to do.
But,it has a few nice bits on it as well, huge alloy radiator and intercooler, koni adjustables,tt front brake upgrade and a poly bushed back axle.
Things to do were :-
Replace the missing bulbs
Replace the badly sagging headlining
Unseize the rear calipers
Strip and clean front brakes
Replace 2 tyres
Move the intercooler
Fit new rear box
Replace the air filters
Sort out the bodged alarm wiring.

i got it home and started to sort it out.   first thing to go was the vinyl sunstrip.
unfortunately this was hiding a big crack in the windscreen

luckily its not in the sweep of the wipers so its not an mot fail.

next thing to do was straighten the rear bumper.  i tried using the adjusters on the brackets but someone had welded them up long ago,so it was off with the back bumper

i was surprised to find no rot what so ever.
i sourced another bumper bracket,un siezed it and fitted it. then refitted the bumper.

its not perfect but there is no more adjustment left.

i had noticed earlier that the intercooler was way to low down.  it was about level with the bottom of the splitter. so the front bumper came off to sort it out.

i managed to lift it up about an inch which should be enough hopefully.

all piped up

and bumper refitted

it was also lacking a heater matrix so the lower dash came out to replace it.  there were loads of dash screws missing which are no longer available from ford so i went round a few scrappies to find what i needed.    i also put a 12v supply to the rear for my daughters dvd player on longer journeys.

Well our lass tried driving it today and she can't.  She can't get on with the clutch with the clutch which feels like a paddle clutch. So it will be coming out next week and a standard cossie clutch will be going in.

I saw this at Ford Fair, lovely car! I actually nearly bought it twice over the last few years when its been popping up. I really love the little spoiler at the top of the tailgate.

Good luck with it, you've got a cracking project here!

dangerousbryan

well it pissed it down all day and everything was bastard tight, but i got the clutch changed. it was a sprung paddle clutch that was in there.  drives a lot nicer with a standard cossie clutch in it.
the starter motor has been playing up for a while,it would kick in and then straight back out again.so took it off and took it to chapmans in sheffield.  got a call back an hour later saying that some muppet had allready reconned it at some point and left half the bits out.  he had to fit a few new parts but its now good as new. ;D.
as to the ongoing saga with the overheating.  i fitted a different fan switch which cut in at 93 degrees and out at 87 degrees. on the temp gauge this equated to it coming on halfway up the N . but it didnt really drop it much as it was only on for about 20 seconds.    so i swaped it fore one from a granada diesel which cut in at 87 degrees and out at 76 degrees.  trouble is this cuts in at half temp gauge and takes it down to a quarter which is a bit too low. i will leave it in for now while i find a better option.

My car is now off the road for winter. It did get an exterior detail before it got parked up .  While its off the road the plans are too remove all the injectors and get them cleaned properly, replace the engine fuel and breather pipes, turn the boost up a bit and last but not least swap the escos wheels for the narrower mondeo ones.  It really does drive horribly on the escos wheels, the steerings heavy, every wheel catches the arch on bumps and the tyres are bloody expensive.

And, dont forget,it are escort weels, aint a sierra... Diaomdcuts will look real nice on your car, but, i prefer the 15 inch ones, just good enough on a sierra!

Thanks mate.

The right 15s will clear the TT brakes, after all the TT wheels were 15s  ;)

Changed the instrument cluster which I got from  xr4x4ever on here today. I now have a working rev counter    ;D.     I also took all 8 injectors out so that I can get them checked and cleaned. There's allways been a wiff of fuel on start up and when you give it some welly. Upon taking the plenum chamber off I found silicone sealer rather than a gasket.

Hopefully this was the cause of the smell.

You need a gasket, not sealer.

Yeah that's what I thought. There was a gasket between the inlet and fuel rail, but someone had used sealer between the fuel rail and plenum.

Both gaskets still available from ford which is good. All injectors have been checked and cleaned. I've got some more fuel pipe to replace the bits to the fuel rail and extra injectors, just need to put it all back together now.

That explains the petrol smell as the sealer will break down with the petrol mist from the extra injectors.

Could have been a lot worse & it could have caught fire.

Well spotted

As some of you may know I've had cooling issues since day one.decided to pull the alloy rad out.

Managed to borrow a substitute 2.0 rad to try. Bearing in mind this rad leaked, and looked pretty knackered, the car ran for about 40 minutes with no fans untill it got anywhere near the top of the temp gauge. With the alloy rad on it would of got there in half the time. I can't see anything wrong with the alloy rad,its not blocked or anything, its just crap.

While it was running I also found an oil leak, which turned out to be the drivers side turbo oil return pipe. So off came the belts and the alternator.

One pipe, which had broken up inside the heat tape. Got a new pipe coming from roose motorsport and a new radiator from ford (the joy of staff discount)

And fitted. Not to bad once I'd removed the alternator.
