Can `Weld on` wings be bolted on?

As title really, i have 2 brand new wings for my sierra but i don`t have a welder and was wondering if i could adapt it to nuts and bolts to make them bolt on wings???

Its my XR4i so not really worried about origanality really but would it affect the MOT?

I could be barking up the wrong tree here but i thought they were welded on for a reason, to help with chassis rigidity

you can bold the to the inner wing's, i do it whit the capri's, so i don't think it will be a problem.

the mean reason why they weld it to the inner wings is to save money on bolds, nuts and time in the factory.

Cheers for the help people, I just rang my local MOT station and they said "Bolting on the wings is fine but would be best to seal them with some sort of sealant", so no worries there. BUT, I have decided to sell it now as i don`t have the time or money for it now...

i've seen them put on with rivots!!! bit easier than nuts and bolts,still not ideal though

Absoultely no reason not to bolt them on. As long as the bolts are correctly dimensioned for the job. (better go large than small that is)

only reason not too is if your competing in certain motorsports

as new rules state they have to be attached as original regardless of material

so the cossie boys are a bit stuffed at the moment as glue doesnt count as "welding" in MSA eyes so makes it difficult to attach carbon kevlar wings

what about old capri's and other ford's where you can't get steel wing's and you need to use glassfibre or carbon kevlar wings?

i woud just bold them on, and if someone make's a remark about it, just tell them thats its bin like that for year's or the previeus owner bolded them on there.

no its not an MOT or road going law

its a motorsport MSA type rule and what they say goes when it comes to scruitineering

its supposed to keep competition fair but often does the oppposite
