I heard the sad news early this morning and was shocked. As a grown man, i don`t mind admitting i had a horrible lump in throat when i heard what happen.

The man was an absolute legend in the rally industry, and will always be remembered as a true top rally driver.

My thoughts are with his friends and loved ones at this difficult time.

Same thing happend to Steve Hislop a few years ago in the north east.

Not a great fan but a sad loss all the same..

Nicky Grist must be a bit shocked too, they had a rocky end to their partnership but all the same it must make a huge dent.

I can't remember a rally driver being killed in an event, but with Colin Richard and a local guy from round here. They all passed away off the dirt..

Richard burns was another great who died off the stages.

I was shocked as well he was a great bloke as well as a great rally driver very sad indeed as his 5 year old son was in the helicopter as well.

Very sad for the other families and especialy for his wife and daughter. Always especialy sad when a child ( or 2 in this case ) lose their lives. I would be destroyed if I lost my lad..
