Emmet

Hi all,

Have been checking out this forum for quite some time now.... Dunno how I've not been deleted without a post for so long. I thought it was high time to introduce myself as before long I'm going to be asking for some GEMS of WISDOM and I'ved a fair idea that you all HATE people who's first post is to request information....

Been working on an XR4X4 for the last 5 yrs converting it to twin turbo in Germany, and have now moved back to the U.K. and brought it with me.... I've spent too much time and money on it to GET RID (as much as I want to). I started the overhaul with another sierra....2.0glsi stripped it bare, replaced a couple of panels, seem welded it, modded rear turrets and bulkhead then sprayed it and began to rebuild. as time rolled by (4years) I realised that I wasn't going to be able to get it finished before moving back so I rebuilt so that the engine would be running standard efi etc but with all modded internals ready to take twin turbo kit when I got back.... having done al the work in my own garage at the top of a mountain and my technical german being non existent at the time... I ran into a LOT of difficulties.

After the car received it's coat of Aarden Blue and Laquer, I started to piece it together with nearly all new parts where practically/economically possible - fully poly bushed, coil overs, elec sunroof, air con, welded in rear suspension brace with trianguler floor stays (help rear turrets take coil over kit) every item stripped, cleaned and painted.

Engine... minker pistons, kent cam, sodium ex valves, polished plenum, Lightned flywheel, all ballenced.

MT75 gearbox with modded 5th gear (as per madoldbugger site).
wing vents plumbed to engine bay and bonnet vents to try help with cooling.... twin elec fans.

After rushing trying to get the damn thing road legal to drive back to U.K. I endded up having an engine fire and I lost all interest completely.
I decided to get it trailered back to my new place in southern england with shiply.com (very useful), Where I could restart the project and finish what I started.

I have now resumed and fitted two freshly refirbed turbos... bloody expensive, new SOLID valve lifters ( I stupidly fitted hydraulic lifters orginally which ultimately led to the fire, you live and learn), modded chopped down dizzy ( to drive oil pump), RFID Alarm system, currently fitting Emerald ECU.

The biggest problem I encountered was when I found out, After fitting the complete interior which had been fully clean and re-upohlstered and dash \ center console painted black, that NON  4wd sierras dont fit 4wd gearbox. Had to strip cut weld and repaint clean grind.. etc. etc. all in one day so as not to set me too far behind. That day nearly broke me, It might not be too bad in a garrage with pits, tools power etc, but this took the piss!!!

Any way...
That's my story,
Not much of a challenge when I see some of the amazing machines people have produced here!

Pictures will follow when I get to my archive!
Many thanks for reading,
Em

Hmmmm... not sure how to add photos...
I'm adding to the "choose file" but nothing happens when I click on "upload"
Is it because I'm using a mobile broadband dongle to connect to internet or me just being DUMB?

Well, maybe it`s because the file you want to upload is too large
Plus it takes up too much space on the server.

It`s better to use something like ImageShack and then use the  tag to paste the link.
Keep it very sideways..

Emmet

figured it out... my connection is just mega slow n takes ages to upload each image!
Damn it.. I'll be here all night!
