hi, im new on here,been lurking a week while waiting for my car, which i now have received. you may have seen it on ebay recently, a moonstone blue thundersaloon kitted xr4i with a turbo technics kit and 4x4 transmission.
heres some pics




now, i bought it blind from ebay with a few known problems, it takes ages to get running right (WUR i suspect), it pinks on boost(he said he hadnt fitted the intercooler, and i thought maybe a tune up), and it smokes on boost due to the oil return being too low in the sump (not a massive problem)

so i got it delivered and the ex owner called me on the day to tell me he had left the lights on overnight so the battery was flat, so i thought no worries,ill jump start it and get looking. turns out the guy was a bit ambitious with his description!he was definitely no auto electrician (the ignition barrel has been rewired, with a separate switch for fuel pump and starter motor, but the ignition is ALWAYS on, unless you turn the key to the 1st position, hence the battery is flat!lol)
also im guessing the reason it pinks on boost is that, other than no intercooler being present as it stated there would be in the for sale ad, i can find no sign of any additional fuelling or ignition modules, so hes fitted the turbo manifold and gubbins from a tt car but not the actual important bits! can anyone show me where the dcu etc connects on a 2.8 tt just in case it is present and correct? if not, are there any available anywhere? or are they hens teeth?

as far as I am aware there is no DCU on the 2.8 Single Turbo.

It uses a modified vacume unit on the dizzy for timing and a modded metering head (may be wrong ) for the fueling.

I believe you could fit the vacuum module from a saab turbo, might need some drilling to fit the ignition, but there is someone on this forum did it! Recent post!

There needs to be a profile block on the metering head, might find one on ebay, i dont have it either, but im not using mfi anymore!
