Hi All.

I am looking for some help please. I have built a Haynes Roadster using an XR4I. Having run it for a year now, i thought it was time for a new challenge, so i have bought a 24v BOB to swap with the Cologne.

I am now totally confused about ECU's, there is a very long post on here, which is excellent but i did get a bit lost.

The ECU i got with the engine is 98GB-120650-EA. Is this any use? The other problem is that the engine harness is totally corroded, does anyone make a replacement?

Brilliant forum by the way.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum Jason.

As for the number you gave me:

Scorpio Cosworth Automatic V6 24v 2.9 litre >98-99 >Ford EEC V 104 pin (Pats) MLE-221/221A >98GB-12A650-EA, Code :TACK

The engine harnas is a nightmare and you cant buy them new and good used ones are very rare and expensive. All the BOB looms suffer this problem.

Best thing to do is take the insulation of, lay it on a big table and start replacing every wire. There are 80 wires, so it takes some time, but it can be done by a novice.

Hi & welcome  ;D

You will need to make your own harness I am afraid.

The ECU can have the PATs control removed if you prefer & set-up for a manual gearbox.

Your at a cross roads, you either need to use an after market ECU for the engine or stick with the STD one & switch things off, then tune it.

Thanks for your responses.

I did think that re making the harness was probably going to be the only answer.

Is it possible to send my ECU somewhere to have it sorted or does it need to be done on the car once the engine is fitted?

Thanks
