Hi I'm Max I've been on here for a while .   Gleaning information for fuuture engine change.   I'm on a couple of other forums especially XROC .
       I have a Mk 1 XR4x4 (86) and a XR4i (83).

4i is a basket case but totally original and complete.   4be is my toy ,several owners and several new panels so is far from original.

This will be 24v after i've checked and rebuilt engine.   Have been slowly collecting parts for a while .

This my 4be going back together after 3 year rebuild (quick worker i'm not)

Engine it will be running till 24v is ready.

Welcome! Nice cars, but why did you paint the exhaustmanifolds on your 2.8? One good warmup and the paint is gone, and you wonder whats the stinking smell from your car, i had it with paint and a nylock nut i accidentally used on my exhaust, i smelled burnt plastic for a wile, and coulnt find it... On the 4be, nice bonnet, but what did you do with the engine vents? They i dont recognise them, from what car are they?

MaxXR

Hi Timo   Thanks for comments.
Exhaust's are painted with VHT exhaust paint as car is stored and worked on outside .Hopefully not too much will burn off  and still protect it.

The bonnet vents I wanted something different.    They are from a 87 Nissan Bluebird hatchback and are off the rear side.

Hi max welcome mate, nice project there, don't see many mk1 s now very cool!

Im a member of a dutch speaking sierra forum, weird thing is most the project sierras overthere are mk1's. A few xr4i, a single cossie, two iS sierras, but also a few normal 4 door sierras, from 1.3 to 2.3, one 24v mk1, but, just a few mk2's!

Not much mk1 4x4 in holland, i believe less than 10 are sold here, mk2 a bit more, but still not much, few with 2.8, but the 2.9 is more common.

My car is a special from a rotterdam based dealer, no more than 3 caspian blue xr4i sold in holland according to ford holland, and mine got from the dealer, very end of 85, fitted with rs alloys, and rs grille, both still on it, rims need refurbish, but, complete with keys and just a little damage.

Bought me a original cossie bonnet with the vents, and a few days agoi managed to find me a copy rs500 front bumper, might be pretty cool painted bodykit grey.

Also, bought a factory new reflectorplate with xr4i written on it, looks nice with my red rear lights, a pair of wind deflectors for my doors, only need a mint roof air deflectors, oh, and i need a ugly looking 80ties trainingsuit, a mullet, and a 80ties porn movie mustache to have the whole picture complete

Okay, my car is older than me  ;D

Hi Timo ....My xr4i (dry stored at the Moment) is a 2 owner me being the third.  The guy I bought it of had it from 1987 and been off the road for 8 years .   Floors and inner sills need  work but haven't stripped it yet to find full state of rot. :'(

I haven't decided which wheels to put on my 4be yet.

Have a set of Cossie lattice wheels as well.

Roof air deflectors sometimes come up on ebay over here. I will watch for one .

Your 4i sounds cool and they look good with RS 500 bumpers.

Hi ade  Not as nice as yours but it's part of my life now and don't intend to get rid of it.     Have spare bonnets so can change it to a sleeper . ;D ;D or turn it back to original.

Cheers mate, had mine a while to lol.

It's good you have the parts for it as the mk1 bits are getting a bit thin on the ground.

It's good to chop and change, keeps it interesting.

The other day I made a 300 mile trip to pick up some parts.  Then I got spare Boa engine which is possibly seized and only had to travel a mile and half for spares for my other Boa engine.    I would love a better tailgate but they always seem to be the other side of the country. :'(
Running out of space quickly. ;D
